If you have a newer Motorola box, you already have an M-Card. As for doing anything with it outside that particular box.. good luck. :/

ShawChamp, is this only for the DCX3200 at the moment or is the 3400 going to be included as well?

For what it's worth, I have heard this new 'interface' will only be loaded on the DCX3200 and contains no PVR functionality at all. This would mean it could not be loaded on any PVRs until it supports the record and playback functions and that will likely take some time to incorporate, from what I am told anyway.

Also, I believe it will only run on the DCX boxes but I could be mistaken about that.

@MacOSXAddict All I can say right now is that it is being tested on the DCX3200. DreamGallery being an IPG developed by Motorola will run on Moto boxes and was also shown at CES this week. A few google searches should bring up maybe some pictures and info.

@DSgamby couldn't say

they developed a software that isn't used on PVR's? :|

why, why, why would they do that in this day and age?

Edit: @ShawChamp So then it would have PVR functionality no?

It sounds something like the ARRIS Gateway to some degree but I think it is more directed to a central server based delivery system(they mention 'cloud based' technology). With everything being stored on the provider's servers you would never really need anything more than an access terminal. This is just me trying to make sense of what little has been written so far so take it with a grain of salt.

As far as I can tell, the cloud part of DreamGallery is just a content management system and content distribution network for the guide, more of interest to Shaw than to us. The cloud-delivered guide would still control the local hardware such as the PVR, tuners, etc. Could be totally wrong though

Edit: of course that wouldn't explain "DreamGallery also will enable TV providers to deliver the first consistent on-screen experience across multiple devices. Soon, you’ll be able to enjoy the same video experience on your TV, tablet and smartphone!" - I wonder if that's only in conjunction with the DCX3600 Media Gateway, or if the delivery of media to the devices is cloud-based. That would be interesting.

Eventually everyone should have it, at least those who have the boxes Shaw will be putting it on. At first, it will only be on the DCX3200s so unless you have one or more of them, don't be surprised if you don't see this new guide for quite a while.

I got to see the new 'DreamGallery' guide today for the first time. It looks really interesting and has lots of neat features and 'customizability'. There is a lot of 'icon' based visuals to it but you can opt out of them for the guide I believe. I almost wish I had a DCX3200 to test it out on but I really don't need any more equipment than I already have now.

There are definitely no PVR controls built into it at this point so it might be some time before it becomes available to the PVR side of Shaw. I think I like the look of it better than the Gateway guide but that is due for an update so that might change in a few weeks.

I think it is due to be out in the next month or so, maybe sooner.
