That's a log message for blocked incoming traffic, I don't think it has anything to do with your issue. Can you define what your gateway is in your message? Do you mean your local gateway or the gateway at Bell Aliant?
If your local gateway then how are you connecting? If wireless does it exhibit problems over wired? If your Bell Aliant gateway then that gateway is overloaded, your fiber has problems, or your ONT has problems. |

I'm pinging my WAN gateway (Aliant) - first hop past my router when doing a Traceroute. Is this my ONT, or farther down the line?
I'm testing wired directly to the Asus. However, if the router log is showing blocked packets (rather than lost in transit), they appear to correspond with the drops I'm seeing pinging the same addresses. Problems don't go away when I turn off the router's firewall though. Thanks |

It's further down the line. It's also possible for the Asus to be defective I suppose. You could put the Actiontec back into action and test. Process of elimination is a good thing.

Agreed - was just preparing to do so. However, I don't see a link to release the IP on the Asus?

It's the "Pause" button in the Connection Status area of Internet Status.

Thanks
Still getting dropped packets with the Actiontec back in place, and reset it to defaults as well for good measure. Problem must be at the ONT or after, which is not what I wanted to find out; I have not had much luck in the past getting ISPs to address connection quality issues past the demarq. |

That's what I expected to happen (unfortunately). My suggestion is to leave the Actiontec plugged in and give technical support a shout. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of things! Good luck.

Yeah, the firmware is fresh. I'll do a build sometime this week or weekend.

4.3.1.8d -> 4.3.1.8e
No problems, and I was glad to see the extra folders on my USB drive from my BD player. 1 minor observation, when I select 'Clients' from the Network Map, the red bar that says 'Searching, please wait...' stays on the screen... no biggie, not like I use it anyway. Thanks File |

Hey file,
Just had 30/30 installed and getting weird speed inconsistencies and such. Before I buy an Asus RT-N56u, I've been thinking of throwing some big iron I have lying around at it and seeing what happens. (I'm a network engineer... Have some spare cisco & juniper equipment lying around) So, am I correct in these assertions: Line from the ONT is an 802.1q trunk. Internet is on VLAN 35 Video is on VLAN 34 with pcp bit set to 4 (802.1p video tag) I'll need to spoof the mac of my actiontec on the line back to my ONT? (The "wan" port) Any other tips/info would be appreciated! Cheers! |

Yes to all, although check the other thread for the 802.1p value to be sure. I can never remember if that is right or not.

I'm considering getting this router, but I can't find details on a requirement I have. The actiontec doesn't support it.
I want to be able to redirect all requests to the external IP of my network to an internal IP. So if I have a dyndns.org account, and I try to access that url while internal on wifi, it'll get redirected to the internal 192.169.1.x IP. I have an app on my phone that I can only configure one URL to access my home network, so I have it set to xx.dyndns.org. But when I'm home on wifi, I can't get to it since the actiontec doesn't redirect properly. I'm not sure what this feature is called. Can this be setup on the asus easily? Also, does the asus support dyndns? The actiontec has it, but it rarely works right. |
