Hewlett-Packard said today that it has re-thought its previous decision to sell its Personal Systems Group (PSG) and has decided the unit will remain part of the company.

I'm not really surprised by this outcome. I was shocked when the spin-off was announced, and I wasn't at all surprised by the market reaction to that announcement or the subsequent dismissal of Leo.

The truth is that HP has a decent business in their personal systems division. If they got their act together they could absolutely sell more "premium" machines for more profit. That market certainly exist - Apple has proven it. They just need to get the right people involved to make it happen. I'm glad they aren't just throwing in the towel.
