Sorry if this has been asked before but I just got Fibe TV installed and noticed that the SD channels display with the bars on the side. My VIP1232 is set up to output 1080i.
How do I set it to display SD channels in stretch mode? I used to be able to do this with my ExpressVu set up but I can't seem to find any option to do this now. |

As long as your box is set to 720p or 1080i, press the enter key, bottom right and you will get the options on the right of your screen.

Just an update on this: the solution above works with one of my TV sets. When I'm viewing an SD channel the stretch mode works. Switching to an HD channel displays in normal 16:9 aspect. On my other set, when I switch to an HD channel it still stretches it. I can either display all channels in normal or all stretched.
The only differenece between the two sets is that the first (the one that where HD channels display normal) is connected with an HDMI cable whereas the other is component. Could the component cables be causing this? |

I would guess that the setting is not proper in the STB to stretch SD and leave HD alone. The cable should not matter. Make sure that the STB is set to output 720P or 1080 too. 720P is probably better since that's what Bell sends.
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=76074 WS TV Stretch modes. I recommend watching 4:3 as 4:3 and 16:9 as 16:9 for the best picture quality and for no distortion. There is no reason to stretch 4:3 these days.
