This afternoon I noticed a "line in use" message on one of the cordless handsets.
Check for dial tone, nothing. Get the normal Telus message "please hang up..bla bla..beeep beeep beeep.."unplugged the power and the line into the wall, plugged back in, nothing. Unplug the internet, back in, nothing. Unplug the connection on my Telus 9241 receiver, message disappears, and I have a dial tone. Plug it back in, "line in use" I have troubleshooted every phone related thing in the house, only thing that makes it appear is when the receiver is plugged in. Not a huge deal, but I did like the Call Display showing up on screen. Thoughts? |

To me seems like you have a short on your phone line! do you have accss to your 66 block or box block (demark) if so unhook 1 twisted pair @ a time and see when everything works correct

Is the phone cord plugged into the PHONE jack, or the ETHERNET jack on the back of your receiver? Make sure it's plugged into the right jack.
If the receiver is unplugged from the wall and you get dial tone back, try using a different phone cord. If it's still busy, it could be a defective jack on the 9241. Call Telus and leave the 9241 unplugged until they replace it. |

Plugged into the phone jack..no access to the block.
Will try a different cord tonight. Thanks for the suggestions. |

One last test:
Unplug your 9241 and something else into that jack, a spare old phone, modem, etc. If you lose dial tone again, the jack or the wire run is likely at fault. If you still have dial tone, the problem is with the 9241. |

This has happened to me twice in the last several months. Took an entire day to get the phones back up the first time and about 2 mins the 2nd time. All I did was remove the power from the base unit.
Longer term solution was to replace my cordless phone system. The old one was - well, old. |

Hm. Yeah the phones themselves aren't even a year old and are Panasonic brand, which I don't think are a cheap unit..that they would be dying already. I haven't checked into this much farther, until tonight. Plugged the cord back into the 9241 just to see and every works just like normal.
Just a strange glitch I guess? |

I work for TELUS, had the same problem. Went out to my prot, removed all the inside set runs and got dial tone, soon as I hooked up the set runs something was off-hook. Came in, unplugged every phone, problem went away when I unplugged the TELUS 9241.
This was weeks ago. Plugged it back in just now and so far my phone lines are fine. Maybe there was a firmware update since when I had my last problems?
