I skipped it as I'm just using WMC7 as an OTA DVR, seems to work just fine. Is there any reason PlayReady should be installed?

It's for cable channels, mostly.
No OTA should have the copy flag enabled, though posts here have indicated it sometimes gets turned on (we hope) by accident.

..I didn't install playready either.
