I wonder when the swap is scheduled to be completed, and I also wonder how many ppl will be phoning in after the switch complaining that there receivers no longer work?

As per Post #1;

continuing until July 31st 2012.
I am pleased to hear that Bell are now sending out registered/recorded delivery mail to customers who have still not swapped out their receivers. That should minimize the numbers who well get a black screen when they switch to MPEG4.

Just got the registered letter re my old and unused 6100 (sitting collecting dust with my 2 x 3100's). Went to the site and no 'pop-up' msg as the letter states. What do I get in exchange? IIRC, I paid like $500 for the 6100.

You'll get a 6131.

I was assuming that it was on an active account, seeing as how he got a letter about it.

RE:

"with Bell as I hear the new satellite to be launched this year will cut off all service to the southern provinces as happened with the HD service a few years ago. "

What ???

Could you explain...

This is WAY of topic.

When Bell replaced the bird at 82, they also cut the signals to South of the border. The same will happen when the new bird arrives at 91.

In a normal Company I would agree but as Bell shipped out hundreds of S06 cards to Customers who had cancelled some 2 or even 3 years before, anything can happen with Bell.....lol

I had difficulty getting my swap 6131 to work & finally after 2hrs on the phone, the senior tech got it up & running. I also complained I lost the UHF remote with the 6131 & IR remote that replaced the 6100. She said she would ship the UHF unit to me.

2 weeks later out of the blue the 6131 dropped all my subscription channels. I called in to fix this & was again promised the UHF unit would be shipped out - I got a verification email this time. .

Not holding my breath...

Lots of UHF kits around in warehouses now as well. Just keep calling Bell until you get what you are promised.

There are some used 6100 and 9200 ones cheap on Kijiji. I just found this thread as the old 1000 model finally broke and I was looking for a replacement. Would a used one be eligible for swap?

merlin: As discussed in post 1 of this thread and the link there, the answer is NO.

6100s and 9200s can no longer be activated. Chances are those ones for sale have already been swapped out. They've actually judy given us tamper proof stickers to put on swapped 6100s and 9200s now, saying that they are no longer usable for Bell TV, or something to that effect. Hopefully they will cut down on the swapped receivers being put on eBay and kijiji.

And I am hearing lots of resistance from Customers who own the receivers saying "No, I do NOT want that on my Receiver".

Not sure what it will do, as it is a two minute job to remove it.

Lets face it, E Bay still has the odd 6000 model for sale, so this issue will be around for years to come .
