Actually, you have it backwards. The 6131 is only to be used for rentals and the 6400 is only to be used for purchases. Once the stock of 6131s is gone (which could take who knows how long) then the 6400 will be used all the time. I don't see the 6131/6400 being reduced in price until they completely get rid of the 4100.

I just saw a stack of 6141's arrive at a warehouse, that was a surprise.

We have a stack of them at our warehouse, but I think we've only used 1 or 2 of them. I find that very few people will purchase the receivers these days, and the people that do usually go with the 9241.

I only just found out about this because I called Bell about starting up my service again (when we moved to Ontario we were unable to use Bell at the places we've lived until now). Since my account was not active, I was not informed of the swap, nor (I suppose) eligible for it.

Any suggestions? It sounds like I'm left with an unreplaceable 9200.

I realize there are things I can do with it. I was looking for suggestions in dealing with Bell to try and get it swapped (as unlikely as that may be).

Give Bell a call and tell them your story. They may give you something for "returning" to them, but you might be able to get the same deal simply by "returning"...

Maybe you could start by getting the best deal as a new customer and then see if any further negotiations regarding your existing equipment are possible. Check out what's available in the Bell Pricing thread or their website for new customers.

I've spoken to low level CSRs and they've pretty much told me to pound sand. I may try to escalate it. For the moment, we're dealing with the fallout from a flood in our house, and it's taking priority over television service.

I just got back from the south and phoned them about swapping my 9200. In spite of the fact that I insisted that I needed a 9242 for 2 TV's and for OTA, they insisted that they do not have any and are sending a 9241 and 5900.

In any case, I am most likely going to be parting company with Bell as I hear the new satellite to be launched this year will cut off all service to the southern provinces as happened with the HD service a few years ago. What I would like to know is if I can stilll use my 9200 as an OTA PVR when I no longer subscribe to anything with Bell and also, of course, cannot receive a signal from Bell. Would it work if I gave it a signal from Dish?

I saw the pile of 9242's has shrunk in the warehouse I visited last Tuesday, probably only 24 or so.

ya and everyone on ebay is asking $500 for one. I've got 3 9200 receivers going in my house. This sucks.

Yeah, you will most likely get 3 x 9241's and 3 x 5900's.

Don't hold your breathe for the 5900's....lol I know of one person in Ottawa, got his 9241's within 4 days, he has been waiting since Feb, for his 5900's because they will require installation, as he doe not have enough free ports on his switch.
