Recently purchased a new Tassimo machine from CT last week and was shocked to see that the units they are selling on the shelves now are still with the old t-disc holders. Now I have to register the unit to get the replacement holder. This being months after the recall was first posted.
How does Health Canada allow these retailers to still sell a recalled product? |

I registered my machine early on, and have yet to receive anything; I hope you will be luckier.

Tassimo really messed up on that recall.
A lot of people that registered via the web were told when they called the hotline that they had no record of them registering. I did get the replacement part and am not impressed with it. I would be glad to get a machine with the old part. |

Anyone try the President's Choice branded Tassimo flavours? I tried 'The Great Canadian' and the 'Gourmet, West Coast Dark Roast'. Both are good, but not quite as bold (strong) as the Gevalia or Signature Tassimo products, but hey two dollars cheaper per 14 T cup pack! 'The Great Canadian' is very Tim Hortonish. Of course, the folks at PC had to be creative with the French translation....'A Saveur du Pays'!

Not a coffee pod but I picked up a 250g can of Illy Espresso (dark roast) at Costco fro $10. I picked it up since my grinder is kaput. It was the only espresso grind they had. But it makes a really good cap. From what I am reading it is a respectable coffee.

Yesterday I was at the store that I buy my K-cups from and they had a new company that had no cup on the k-cups. The pods are basically the filter with a foil top. They're priced at $39.95 for a box of 80. I haven't tried them yet but I was impressed with their design since less plastic would make them a little "greener".
I did try a new brand of coffee called Brooklyn. I bought the Corner Donut Shop blend and Boardwalk blend. Both are medium roasts but extra bold brews and quite good.

^ i bought a similar brand and one thing to note it says clearly on the bag that they will go stale since the coffee is exposed to air if not kept in a bag.
the coffee itself was decent. Currently im enjoying green mountain - half calf. if you live in the GTA and want to check out amazing variety and decent price go to ecs coffee in burlington. they even got a website you can order from. i had an issue with my 4 year old Keurig machine that was not giving me full cups. It ended up that the bottom nedle was no longer piercing the cups. ECS had the replacement part on hand and now the machine is back to its original form! |

San Francisco Bay OneCup from Rogers Family (not the Cable Rogers) and Club Coffee (only available from ECS Coffee for now) are the two that have the foil top and filter bottom.
Store them in an airtight container (i.e. glass jar, Lock & Lock) and they will stay fresh. EDIT: Here's how I currently store my OneCups:

A heads up for Tassimo owners. I've had my machine for almost a year now, and just realized you can disassemble the front part of the machine, basically everywhere the liquid flows through. It's in the manual but I'd forgot about it I guess.
Anyway, after almost a year, it was quite dirty and I soaked the parts then scrubbed off the residue with q-tips. They are also dishwasher safe. The Tassimo design forces the water through the coffee pod(disc) at 3 bars of pressure, unlike the Keurig, so residue can build up over time. After I cleaned everything up I noticed the coffee was better too. I had recently tried a few Keurig varieties at my mother-in-laws, and I really do prefer the taste of Tassimo. Perhaps the pressure used extracts more body from the grounds. Anyway, happy drinking! Edit: I just found out that Tim Horton's will be offering 3 varities of coffee with Tassimo, and Second Cup will also be offering the T-discs, both this fall. An interesting development. |

Thanks for the heads up on Timmy and Second Cup T disks. Are the parts you are referring to labelled 8a (T disk holder), 8b (piercing assembly) and 8c (spout) on page 12 of the manual? The water reservoir also has two parts; the inner sleeve can be removed and cleaned.

I'm torn between the two systems (K and T). I can only afford to invest in one of them. It would be interesting if DHC were to turn this thread into a poll where one could see which system is more popular. It could help me and others on the fence to make our choice.

A poll would be a great idea. I wonder if the mods could add one to this thread instead of the need for a new thread to create a poll?
I've had Tassimo since day 1 and love it. I have a close family member with Keurig and I can't say I'm impressed. To each his/her own. |
