Default PC + HTPC + Rear Projo CRT = ???

Hi,

I have a Sony KP46WT500 rear projection CRT.

My question is, if I want to use my TV with an HTPC and also use the TV as my monitor; so inessence eliminating my computer monitor what is the viability of doing so with short exposures.

So if I surfed the web for no more than say 1/2 hour to an hour at a time what are the burn in rammifications? How long does it usually take to affect burn in?

I am going to give SONY Canada a call because my Tv is supposed to have "picture shift" yet I cannot find any literature or mention of it. It is supposed to slowly shift the picture around the screen not visible to the eye to reduce burn in.

Anyone who uses their CRT projo as a monitor please respond.

My CRT HDTV is the only monitor for my HTPC. It gets a wide range of usage, 4x3 TV (SA3250HD with grey bars), 16x9 HDTV, letterboxed DVDs, computer browsing/games (the kiddies like to YTV games), etc. I've had it hooked up for 18 months now.

I do not have any burn-in.

The most important things are:

1. Make sure the contrast is turned down to a reasonable level.

2. Don't leave it on a static image for more than a couple of hours.
