I've been searching on their web site to see if I could find it but it isn't displayed anywhere.
Are the channels SpaceHD and 3D on there? If so, what package did you get them with? And if you were with ROGERS before, do you regret going to FibreOP or which you were with ROGERS still? Please note: I don't want to see this thread turn into a fan-boy based fair. I am looking to real arguments. My Contract is coming up and am looking to go to the darkside....

AFAIK only Bell (Satellite and Fibe TV) has Space HD so far.

I do not regret the switch. It cost me less (might vary from person to person) and I got more out of it, faster Internet. The only thing I lost switching providers was AMC and that's not too bad in the grand scheme of things.
Each person will have reasons to stay or change. You'll have to weight out the options for you since it could potentially cost you more in the long run to switch, for example. |

You touched on a matter that tweaks my curiosity. Costs.
Previous to FibreOP, I had Aliant Ultra High Speed internet and phone. My TV was and still is, Bell Satellite. We had a long distance calling plan of evenings + weekends free calling across Canada. We also had some calling features eg. - caller display etc. We switched to FibreOP, received faster internet, any time calling for Canada + USA, more calling features then before and it's costing me ~$25 less a month then before FibreOP. When I was talking to Aliant about going FiberOP and he was telling me prices, I was some what skeptical. What he said, turned out to be true. |

For me, I didn't make a switch from another Provider, Well I had rogers many years ago, but when I bought my house I went with the rabbit ears until I bought a HDTV. At the time (4 years ago) Fiberop was not quite avaliable yet.
I called Aliant to get Aliant TV, they said I'd have to go on a wait list(Not enough ports in the area), I said sadly I don't want satalite so I will have to call rogers then. so I called Rogers, thats where the fun began. Called once, got one price, called again, got another price, went to RogersPlus store got another price....It was fustrating...then the orginal rep from Aliant who I was spaking with, calls me back and told me they can give me Aliant TV. (This was all within 24 hours) I upgraded to Fiber op earlier this year, very friendly and professional installer who didn't mind chatting while he worked away and answered any questions I had. Personally I find the customer service a lot more friendlier through Aliant and they will go above and beyond to help you |

How about 3D channel? Is there one?
For those who have switched, did they offer some incentive for owning your pvr boxes? That's for me the biggest hurdle as I own 2 ROGERS pvr and 1 set top box.

There is no 3D channel and also no option for owning a set top box. You must rent from Bell Aliant with the first box being free and the others costing $4.95/mth

I am not aware of any incentive for owning your own boxes.
A friend of mine switched from Bell Satalite, and he owned 3 recievers, one was brand new. They wouldn't give him any incentive, but I guess the cost from Aliant was still better so he switched anyways. Since Aliant does the Whole Home PVR, and provide that for free as part of the HD bundle, you won't need any other PVR you only need to rent the other settop boxes at 4.95. If the PVR breaks, they come and replace it...no need of you to go out and buy a brand new PVR The way I look at it, 4.95X12 months in a year is 60.00 a year per settop box Which isn't really much, if the box breaks, they show up typicly the next day and swap it out. They are constantly updating the software on your boxes as well. If you own your Rogers Boxes there must be someone you could sell them too after you switch?? |

Bummer that there isn't any 3D channel or SpaceHD.
I guess I could always put my PVR's on Kajijji. Now I really have to set up a list of pros and cons on keeping ROGERS or going to FibreOp. One big PRO is high speed no cap on fibreop.

FibreOP does offer a 3D movies menu of On Demand titles for about $7 each. (for a 48 hour rental i think)
There are usually about a half dozen available in there. It's in the "Featured Content" section of the "English" menu with a bunch of other special-pick themed movies of the week and some free stuff. |

Compared to ROGERS , how clear are the HD channels? Are they pretty crisp or compression shows up its limits?
I have until the 1 week of november to make my mind up. I wonder how many in NB have or will be making the switch? With the lack of HD channels that we don't have, my pros for fibreOp goes up each time I think of a point.

After years of going through my annual ritual of calling Rogers and negotiating the best possible price, the company reps don't seem to want to play anymore. Last year I was paying a total of $164/month for my cable/internet/phone package and the very best that they would offer me this year is $211 for exactly the same package. It really makes me wonder if Rogers has forgotten the meaning of the word "competition".
Bottom line? Rogers has forced me to take Bell Aliant's Fibre Op incentive bundle and save approximately $400 this year. The Fibre OP installer comes this Thursday. And when the Rogers technician comes on Friday to get their equipment back, I will be sure to be playing Beyonce's "IRREPLACEABLE". "You must not know about me...you must not know about me I can find another you in a minute" A bit bitter and disappointed? Oh yeah! Feeling like a "valued Rogers Customer?" Pfft! Yeah right! |

I keep tabs on twitter for certain keywords, FibreOP being one of them. I came across a tweet a week or so ago from someone talking about how a Rogers salesman came to his door but once he mentioned he had FibreOP the salesman just gave up. Perhaps they know they really have had it for the moment?

We previously had BEV and Rogers for phone and internet. Decided to get FibreOp back in January when our dish was under 4 feet of snow up on the roof and inaccessible so we had no TV.
The wife hated the TV at first (before media room) although she did like the speed. Phone is indifferent although I did like the rogers online phone features. Now with Media Room she loves it. I don't notice a difference on the picture quality although that just may be me. Love the whole home PVR and the fact that it will record four at a time. We use NetFlix to keep the kids entertained which means no limits on downloads is good as well. I did like a few of the BEV features better. The most annoying thing is having to mine the menu to figure out what your PVR usage is at. Also liked that hitting Guide more than once allowed you to scroll through everything, subscribed and HD which can't do with FibreOp. Also, a few people have commented that with the ability to record four shows at once you don't need the western feeds. Just be aware that if you record two in HD you can't watch a third HD channel. I guess I knew this but only experienced if for the first time this past week. |

With only being able to record 2 HD feeds, and not being able to watch a third on the PVR, if you do have a second set top box, I use that box to watch the 3rd show in HD...depending on the show I may just watch it on the smaller tv in another room...or I may just move the box ontop of the PVR.
My entire system is on the Cat 6 setup, and I happen to have 2 drops by the tv, one goes into the PVR, and the second into the PS3...I just unhook the PS3 patch, bring in the second set top box from the other room, hook it that lien, and then connect it into the 40 inch tv, and vola, 2 shows recording, and one show playing live. Saves me from getting timeshifting, and puts the other box to good use |
