Sorry for the confusion.

I'll try to get an update tomorrow.
Nov. 28 came and went. Any idea what the new date might be?

No. I'm pestering them daily. It could be any time in Toronto.

Outside of Toronto here will be further delays due to a need to reconfigure some circuits to accommodate additional data.

Marc, am I correct in assuming the data will be similar to before and not have last minute updates? I seem to remember you saying that earlier.

I'm pushing for data extracted from the automation system. For starters, it will be the old subscription service.

Default Time

Is there any plan for CBC and Radio-Canada to correct the time being transmitted with their DTV programs? From experience CBRT-DT does not display the right time. Reports in the reception forum say CBWT-DT and CBWFT-DT don't either.

CBCT time is way off and has been since day one. I've been figuring they'd fix it when they add the PSIP automation data. But that seems to be taking a long time as well.

I made some comments about incompetence earlier in this thread and was criticized for it by some. That early on, I was inclined to accept the criticism.

But seriously: Flawless prototype digital channel shown to us for a few years prior to Sept. 2011, and comparative crap ever since the actual deadline passed.

There aren't too many ways to describe that.

Angry Not happy either about CBC guide data situation

No secret there. Mr. Lacroix, Mr. Guiton, and Ms. Kirshenblatt have made that abundently clear. That doesn't mean EVERYONE at the CBC doesn't care. Obviously Marc cares since he gives updates on the situation.

To me incompetence may be too strong of a term without knowing more facts. It could be whoever is working on it isn't any sort of ATSC expert but CBC management is directing him to work on it (or even NOT work on it ). I doubt CBC management is going around looking to hire ATSC experts given their view of the whole topic.

The CBC/SRC digital channels that existed prior to Sept. 2011 were all fairly old (started in 2005 I think). It's possible that the team that put these on the air was totally gone from the network by the time 2011 came along. If they didn't leave documentation for the new guys, then yes, that's incompetence and also management incompetence for allowing it to happen.

To be fair to CBC, both Global and CHCH have no useful guide data either. (I think they are officially "working on it" too)

Perhaps finally launching the Winnipeg stations might see some progress on this issue?!?

My understanding that all the technical issues for Global carrying program info are in place, and all that remains is to get a license from Rovi to actually use the data. (It still amazes me that broadcasters have to pay someone to display their own programming info. I suppose just because you have rights to broadcast something doesn't mean you have rights to the episode's title and synopsis.)

Looks like this CBC OTA saga is soon about to span multiple years.

Not to be critical of you, but something you may not be aware of is that CBC is using a different network distribution approach than before the transition on 9/1.

Not trying to make excuses either, just stating facts.

Thumbs down CBLT-DT Toronto Poor Resolution

NHL game between Phil. and NY is being carried on NBC and CBC and NBC picture resolution is clearly showing a sharper image of the game.Players names remain readable at all times on NBC via WGRZ OTA while distance shots on CBC are not readable.CBCs picture looks more like DVD quality. So I am watching on WGRZ.
