Our second TV got zapped in the recent lightning storm (no surge protector) and after calling several places in Stoney Creek/Hamilton area repair costs will start at $68.00 for an estimate and depending on the problem fixing could be anywhere from $150.00 up. I am going to open it up and check to see if it is a fuse blown but after that I wouldn't be looking to do anything else.
Noticed the Samsung 40" 1080p LCD (LN40D550) is on sale for about $540 at a number of stores. One thing I like about this model is you can connect a USB and watch a movie with connect share feature. Can anyone comment on this model good or bad, we have a 3 yr old Samsung 720P that has served us well and it is still fine. If anyone wants to suggest another make and model in the same price range or lower I am open to suggestions. |

I'd highly recommend a 120hz model. I can't recall, but isn't the 'D' series only 60hz?

Mine is a 60hz.Maybe side by side with a 120hz you could tell , but I like it.Barely notice any blurring at high speeds.Amazing picture at 1080.

Bought the TV and found it great for the price.
Took it back 2 days ago and switched for the 46" which went on sale for $50.00 more. $599.00 The 120hz is $300.00 more and the LED is over double the cost. I watch lots of sports especially hockey and with our other Samsung a 720p 60 this blur has never been an issue that I have noticed. The connect share which the Sammys have allowing the plug in of a hard drive or USB stick is now a must have for me. Watching movies and other media is so simple and I haven't found a format yet that it doesn't play. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced TV with a terrific picture. |

Since this model is in the lower part of Samsungs LCD line(only 60hz) etc..you may want to check out Samsungs low line Plasmas which are also pretty cheap but may provide better picture quality especially if you are watching sports or standard definition broadcasts.
