Samsung PN59D8000 vs PN59D6500 - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

I've narrowed the choice for my next TV to either the Samsung PN59D8000 or PN59D6500. Looking at them in the store there doesn't appear to be that much of a difference between them except for the price (about $800.00) Unfortunately I couldn't view them side by side. Does anyone have an opinion regarding these to sets and whether the price difference is justified?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They are very likely the same screen, I have not seen either but based on the comparison on the samsung website they seem to be very similar. It more so comes down to the features that you are willing to pay for.

The 8000 series is the top of the line samsung plasma, while the 6500 is more midrange in terms of features. http://www.samsung.com/ca/pdf/SmartTV_chart_ENG.pdf

If you want skype and web browser on your tv, then the 8000 is your choice, however then the 6500 is likely the same screen with less features.

-this is simply based on my experience with mine and my parents samsung plasmas.

i just got the pn59d6500,

upgraded from 37" lcd to this 59",
the size is huge when i sit about 10 feet away,

the picture quality is awesome,
best on OTA or blue ray or 3D player,
PS3 games also great,

there is glass reflection as with plasma screens,
so best in low light room,

for totally awesome experience you need 5.1 or 7.1 surround system,

the differences between the two models is basically the connections,
like wifi, internet web browser,skype,

google will give almost all excellent reviews,
these are for real,

check the features comparison,
