And for those who just keep pressing channel up or channel down until they find something they like, it makes it twice as likely they'll stop on those particular channels.

Just lock out the channels you do not want to see in the Guide.

I hide almost everything below 198, all the 800's, 700's, PPV', HD PPV, French PPV and the Radio stations I don't want. My guide is nice and concise. No ridiculous duplicates.

To add to this, if new channels are added, they will not be locked out and they will be automatically be added to a favs list. So I've set up a favorites list with just the NEW channel 299 (or whatever it is) in the list. When new channels show up, they will automatically populate that fav list and then I'm aware right away. Much easier to check this guide list then to go Menu, 8-2-2 or menu 5 + password.

I'm missing something here. Channels don't get added to a Favourites List unless you explicitly choose them. They only appear when you add them from the complete list. How do you get them to show up automatically?

New channels do, at least on my 9242. The receiver just assumes "hey they're new" and lights them up.

Interesting since that has never happened so far on my 9242. I'm going to set up a "NEW" favourites list as you described and see if it works. Thanks.

I have NEVER had that happen in a "Favorite" list, in my opinion it is impossible as you must select a Channel for it to actually appear in that list.

I 'hide' all the channels I do not watch, then if a new Channel appears it is there because I actively "Block" the others. A new channel is not "blocked" therefore becomes visible.

Just like Channel 299 appeared a while ago. As I refuse to even look at PPV Channels I just 'hid' it.

I find some new channels just appear on my favourites list, usually they are the annoying kind though. For my new MCHD2, I had to manually add it to my list.
