Please note this thread is the honour of Jack Layton. Any disrespectful posts will be removed immediately.

It is sad news. I was not a fan of his politics but certainly respected him and genuinely believed he was a decent and honourable man.

After seeing photos of him at his final press conference and hearing him, I certainly feared the worst.

Rest in Peace Jack.

Ditto. While I may not neccessarily agree with his politics, it's obvious to me that he had not just his, but also Canada's best interests in mind, truly believed in his message, and therefore while I may not agree with his ideologies, he appeared to be an honourable man.

Very sad news...this puts the NDP down several rungs in the Political Arena.

He was not only a great politician...but a great man.

Default goodbye Jack

Learned the news watching CTV in Bonaventure , Qc, in vacation; my soul is like the weather here: grey and windy. He was a great man.

I admire the dignity he displayed while facing his mortality. This is a great loss, and I'm sad to hear of it.

I voted NDP in the last election, in Gilles Duceppe's riding no less! Man did Duceppe and his party ever get the boot! Jack's performance during the French language debates as well as his many appearance on the French language CBC show "Tout Le Monde En Parle" were pivotal moments for Jack and the NDP, showing the Quebec population that there were alternatives to the status quo.

Good bye Jack. We'll all miss you.
