I wonder why I am having zero issues receiving Global. I do not have a VHF antenna. I must be in a sweet spot.

i have added my tvfool as my homepage
how did you add your antenna detail to your signature
is it just part of your location or is it a different section

Global seems to have corrected the PSIP for Ottawa. It now scans as 6.1 for me

No, I'm getting the same SNR of 16/17 I've been getting since it signed on yesterday. Mini state aimed at CF.

what does 16/17 represent?
is that db, percentage, signal/quality?
is the channel watchable?

i detect the channel but cant lock in
and im on the roof with a vhf into cm7777 preamp

i get about 80% signal noise and quality fluctuates between 10 and 30 today
never enough to lock in
as lock starts at about 30
and the signal noise is quite high

Signal to Noise ratio.

It's probably the most accurate way to state how much signal I'm actually getting at my tuner. I have no quality meter as some have been reporting, but a "Signal strength" bar.

My Sony is unable to resolve a station when it hits SNR of 15 or less.

For comparison, I get SNR of 32 on CBOT-DT, 32 on CICO-DT and SUN. all of them are excellent. Camp Fortune is Line of sight at 14km away.

I have 2-Edge shot of HC tower at 18km away, and I get SNR of 20 on City-DT, 18 on omni1, and anywhere from 6-14 on omni2.

I just did a scan on my Aquos TV. Global (6.1) and TVO (24.1) are coming in perfectly and with their proper digital allocations. I live in Hull (Haute-Plaines) and am using an Omnidirectional MS-1000 antenna on my roof. Still can't get Omni 2 although that is expected as the antenna's reception drops above 60.

Thanks for the update Muus. In Aylmer I can get it on my bedroom TV but not the living room. I tried something this afternoon. I removed my attic antenna cable from my TiVo and plugged in a regular TV top antenna. I lost 7 channels, and the 80 to 85 signal stations were coming in at 35 to 40. So the attic antenna is definitely worthwhile having. After doing a channel scan, channel 6 was still not coming through. I left the tv on channel 6.1. I unhooked the tv top antenna and plugged in the attic and low and behold 6.1 came in really clear and beautiful. I watched it for a few minutes then switched channels. There was no way to get 6.1 back again, but how odd that it came in when I connected the attic antenna.

In any case, I looked at Stampeder's antenna list and ordered a recommended low VHF yagi along with the HLSJ switch. Once that gets here I'll crawl into the yucky attic and install it. Hopefully that will end this issue for me. I hope it works!

Would that be the AntennaCraft Y5-2-6 ?
I was looking this up at the moment to see if I could do any better than what I have, and cannot find the larger Y10-2-6 listed on their site. My Delhi VIP-302SR would have a slightly lower gain at 4dB for VHF Low vs the Y5-2-6 in the Antenna Chart (at 4.9). It doesn't say how well these fare in VHF Hi.

Hi Flavoie,

I live 8.1 km away from Camp Fortune. Looking at Stampeder's chart the Y5-2-6 is the better one for such a close distance. So I ordered that one. I think the only local station we have below 7 is Global. Why they chose 6 I'll never know. In any case, the antenna was inexpensive so it's not so bad. Maybe Global will increase their power. I'm sure that would help many people. I spent an hour this morning fiddling with my antenna upstairs adjusting it to work well with all stations. Adjusting it to work with 6.1 Global caused issues with CityTV 17.1. So a lot of switching back and forth along with minor antenna adjustments until it now seems to be in the middle. Not the greatest signal for any, but a good enough signal that it's not going off air when I switch stations.

I'm on vacation this week so it's been keeping me out of trouble.

I'm picking up Global with an WG HD-8800 (on piece of PVC conduit tube mounted vertically in my 10th floor apt.). The antenna is at a 45deg. angle to the walls and facing HC. CF is 9.5 miles thru the rest of the building (45ft) and it's mostly concrete. However my cable run is less than 10ft.
No pre-amp.

So the HD-8800 can get the job done.

6.1 was perfect for me last night, but coming in and out this evening with a ton of pixelation on the screen.

My Global is back on 6.1 now with a signal strenght of 90% with my signal split 3 ways without any amp through a CM 4228HD. It's my stongest digital signal. The rest are around 60% with the weakest being Omni1 at 27% to 30% most of the time, peaking at 35. Omni has been pixelated a couple of times but all is good this evening. There is stil the elusive Omni2 at 66.1 that is missing but I do get omni2 analogue on 14 very well.

After good reception last night, tonight I can't get a full lock on Global.
