Default Receiver Manuals on CD

We got a shipment of refurbished 6131s in our warehouse yesterday, and after installing 3 of them today I noticed that rather than there being a manual in the box, there is a CD, with a label on it that says "Bell 6131 Receiver Users Manual", or something to that effect.
I haven't had a chance to actually try one yet, but I'm assuming that it's probably just the PDF of the manual on there. I think we got some refurbished 4100s in too, but I haven't had a chance to check them yet to see if they contain a CD too. Anybody else notice this yet?

This seems to be the new trend as many automoble manufacturers are putting the manual on disc. Not a major problem but still like to hold the manual in my hand and read it. Sure you can print it but it is not just the same.

I like manuals on .pdf. I can install them on my iPad and then I have quick access.

I've seen lots of electronics like this lately. Saves a lot of trees since so few people ever bother opening the OM. I also like the pdf format so that I can search for certain keywords, but I also prefer reading "paper".

The first thing I do when I get anything new that has an OM is to download the pdf OM from the website.

Me too. I have had a directory on my computer entitled manuals for years. Comes in handy every once and a while when I don't want to go hunting for the old CD or the paper manual.

On a tablet they are all very legible so I don't have any need for the dead tree edition.

I think it's a great idea, but I also think that some people would prefer having a paper copy, such as older people who aren't as computer-savvy.

You could probably call or e-mail and they would send a hard copy to anyone requesting same...
