Default America's Got Talent

I never watched this show before about three weeks ago. I have now watched about six episodes and I'm really enjoying it.

I don't like idol or the dance shows because I find they get boring. I find AGT is fun with all the different types of entertainment and I like the bickering between Piers and Howie.

Yes, great show though I wish they wouldn't have singers since they have there own reality shows.

I wanted more magicians in the final 48 and was disappointed when they limited it.

This is my first year watching it and I'm hooked.

*HERE THERE BE SPOILERS*

I was really sorry to see Those Funny Little People gone, and also thought that comedian that got the boot was funny. As much as I liked Echo the parrot, I couldn't see how they'd be able to do a whole show. I think Anna's gonna go far.

I thought the three that made it through deserved it. I could see a case for the Fabulous Flores and Meeks (the singer with the piano) but that's about it.

I think the singing comedian was good in Las Vegas but I thought his Hollywood performance was brutal and frankly off colour. That kind of humour is fine in a night club but not on National TV in primetime.

Parrot was neat but not a million dollar winner.

Anna is excellent for 11 years old BUT if she was 22, I think she would be gone after the last performance.

Just because they are gone doesn't mean they won't be returning. After the 4 weeks of competitions you'll probably see a wild card show and a show featuring Youtube performers, one or two of which will join the others who have made it this far.

Also, even though they are eliminated, if it's like BGT, they are asked to go on tour with the other acts. It's like you belong to AGT even if you are a goner.

I agree with who went through this past week. At first I was disappointed that the Fearless Flores family didn't go through, but then I realized there wasn't really more they could do with their act. Yes it was dangerous, but it would have been hard to really step it up.

I can't wait to see some of the other performers (such as Illuminate) in the next few rounds.

Tonight was a weak episode overall - with quite a few disappointments. The biggest disappointment though wasn't with the acts themselves however. I'd like to give three big red X's to the audio engineers.... between the persistent echo during all the recaps, and the silent mics during some of the judges' commentary, I think they really need to double-check things.

(Yes I know it's live, but if a juggler gets X'd by Piers because he dropped a bowling pin, the audio guys should get an X as well for dropping the ball.

Ya, really bad audio, really bad.

Also agree that the acts were subpar.

I'm really disappointed with all the singers that have made it into the semi's. There's enough singing shows on tv that I'll tune to one of those if I want to see singers. This show should be about magicians, side shows and other entertainers that don't fit in the other singing or dancing shows. If things don't change for next season, looks like this will be my last season watching.

My brother and I have been thinking the same thing. The singers this year are just OK in my opinion. Given that all the other Got Talent shows allow singers though, I don't think it's fair to say that "singers aren't allowed." Singing is a talent, and I'm sure they'd lose a fair bit of viewership if singing wasn't allowed.

For me, the biggest disappointment was that they put through Professor Splash instead of the magician this past week. I just can't see many who would pay to watch someone fall down into a small pool of water, and the fire promise was made in the beginning too and he didn't deliver this week. They made reference to Evil Knevil, but at least Knevil knew how to make a presentation out of his daredevil stunts!

The biggest surprise was when they brought the first group of three out - I really thought one of them was going through. I know they did that once last year as well, but if I recall, none of those acts were really good so it made sense. This time I would have loved to see the skippers go through.

The $1m is paid out over 40 years. If there's 10 people in your group that's only $2500 each per year.

..or you can take a lump sum which is very low compared to the initial amount.

The key is what discount rate they use to compute PV. If they use something like 5% -the lump sum would be < $150K.
