Has anybody listened to these 2 receivers back to back? The Futureshop version (SC1525) is available at an MRSP significantly lower than the SC-35. What am I missing here? My SC-05 just died and it is soundling like it will be about $550 to repair as it was a significant failure.
My local dealer who no longer sells Pioneer has recommeded a Denon 3312 as the comparable replacement. Any thoughts or real world experience with these products? |

not familiar with the sc1525 but have recently added an SC37 into my system to audition. It is one of the best AVR's I have tried, sound is amazing both for video and audio. I highly recommend this receiver!!!

Unfortunately SC-35/SC-1525 is a downgrade (sound-wise) from SC-05. The SC-05 use Wolfson WM8740 DACs and the SC-35/SC-1525 use Burr Brown DACs.
On the video side, the SC-35/SC-1525 is a major upgrade due to Marvell Qdeo K2 upscaler. There is no difference at all between the SC-35 vs SC-1525 except for RS-232 (IIRC) and an additional 1 year warranty on the SC-35 plus the Urushi finish on the SC-35. Oh and the amber lighting on the SC-35 as opposed to white on the SC-1525 If you want a true upgrade in both video AND audio, I strongly suggest the SC-37. It uses studio-class DACs (the name excapes me at the time being). The same DACs used in high end Apogee ADC/DAC standalone units used by many major recording studios.
