Question Macbook Pro disks?

I bought a Macbook Pro about a year ago via applestore.ca

I want to trade in my MB Pro but the salesguy said I need the "two" disks that came with the MB Pro.

Does it come with disks? If so I have no idea what I did with them I looked everywhere.

Thanks

It probably came with OS X and another with iLife or something similar.

They are install discs, they look like DVD's, and yes they are grey.

I am really confused as I also have an iMac which came with CD/DVD and upgrade CD/DVD but for some reason I can't find any disks that say "Macbook Pro" which they should?

Is it hard to sell without them?

Thanks for all your replies!

I don't think the disks are a deal maker or breaker, but might give the prospective buyer a bit more confidence that they're not buying a stolen computer (doubtful that a thief would have the right disks).

If I'm buying, I don't think I'd care. In fact, I have bought two Macs used, and didn't care about (or use) the disks that were included. The original boxes would have assured me that I was dealing with an honest seller.

Guess I will find out .....I will call apple care tomorrow and see how much the disks will cost me...give them my serial number etc. If its going to cost and arm/leg I won't do it....otherwise I will post without disks.

It's not like I have to get rid of it anyways. Its perfectly working and hardly used.

The discs we got with our MBP's are specific enough to have MBP 17" on mine and MBP15" or Mrs Pinza's.

They have never been in the machines.

A local store said $700 but it appears they don't even base this on condition of the unit lol, just the specs only. It was $600 for a different version.

IIRC, the disks won't allow an OS install on a "different" machine (I didn't notice once, and tried to use my imac's disk in the MBP - no go). Not sure about the iLife support software, but I'd guess it's model-specific as well.

I figured what the problem was....my original Snow Leopard disk was scratched/undreadable. I purchased a new on $29 and was able to erase my hdd and restore it to factory settings. Now I have it on the market

Thanks
