Default DSR317 with Philips remote control

Hey,

I'm new here.. I have a DSR317 receiver installed. I just bought a new Philips SRP5107/27 universal remote control.

I tried the codes they provide for Starchoice, Motorola and even Shaw, but nothing works and i'm not able to have the remote working with my receiver.

Everything works just fine for the TV, but nothing on the SC receiver.

Any hints??

I'v even tried to set the "Universal" 9999 code and then do the 15-20 minutes automatic search, but nothing...

Is there a way to make this remote work with my SC receiver??

thx a lot.

Mike

Thumbs up Remote Control Address

Make sure the receiver is set to the first code all 0's in Systems Settings, Installation Settings, Remote Control Address. Then give it another try.

Try Primestar codes. They fundamentally work.

The underlying protocol is known as General Instruments GI4DTV. As mentioned previously, you shoud make your initial attempts using address #0. Here is the generic info:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/johnsfine....html#G.I.4DTV

I use a Sony programmable remote, andd I have implemented addresses 0 thru 4; includidng all the function codes for the PVR630. So, it is possible, but it takes a long time to understand the underlying technologies.

Hope that helps,
Jake

Ok... As you might remark, I'm not exactly an expert in remote controls and I'm also not the best at understanding English (I live in the Lower St-Lawrence region in Quebec)

So, I know the basics, but not much about remote controls protocoles and everything...

Can Someone just explain what to try???

In the Remote control settings of my DSR317, address is: 0000

Of course, I can't use 0000 on my remote as it is not a valid code.(And I know that it don't have to match anyway)

Can someone help me... Plz??

Having you tried following the manual on page 10 to "learn" the SAT remote?

1 Press and hold the SETUP button until the red light indicator
turns on, then release the button.
2 Press and release the desired mode button (TV, DVR, etc.).
• The red light indicator flashes, then remains lit.
3 Press and release the LEARN button.
• The red light indicator flashes, then remains lit.
4 Press and release the button on the SRU5107 that you wish
to learn a new function (e.g. POWER).
5 Point both remote controls facing each other by
approximately 1 inch apart (refer to chapter 5.4 ‘Tips on
learning’).
6 Press and hold the button from which you wish to learn on
the original remote control (e.g. POWER) until the red light
indicator flashes once and then remains lit.
• If there is a learning problem, the red light indicator flashes
for three seconds and then remains lit. If this happens,
repeat steps 4 to 6.
7 Repeat steps 4 to 6 for other buttons you wish to learn a new
function.
8 Press and release the SETUP button when all desired remote
control commands have been learned.

I tried the instructions that were in the manual I got with the remote but they were not the same ... those you have written here are correct.

Good. Then may I suggest you also download the online manual found on the Phillips site here:
