Nimiq 6 is to slot in at 91 which has always been the SD bird (s).

Bell have to add dozens of Local Channels so I think after Nimiq 6 is commissioned, Bell will finish the transition of HD Channels to MPEG4 and that will free up space for this locals.

More HD channels will come thanks to MPEG4, not Nimiq 6, IMHO.

Question

With my recentconversion back to BTV(been 5 years), I can't recall what the signal was on 91, but I recall(at the time 82)was lower then it is now. Signal is way up there using a single dish(the one with Bell writen on it with 2 LNB joined in as to appear as one).

Anyways at present the signals on 91 at least for me are from 87% to 100%, with N6 going up sometime this Spring?/summer? will the signal jump up top 95%-100% like they are on 82(at least for what I get?)

The funny thing is I had a spare Dish the one that had two seperate LNB that you could attach but the installer said can't use that one and installed a new one. Strange?

So basically will the signal stregnth go up once N6 is in service?

Yes, it is much more powerful than the old birds currently at 91.

I'm not sure what the point of Deja View or Comedy Gold HD would be. Most of their shows are not available in HD. Sure they can be converted, but they haven't been yet and I do see it happening. Really, can you see the Fresh Prince or Full House in HD?

My thoughts exactly. It's pointless to have them in HD. There are a few older shows that I record for my wife, and I have them set to record on the SD channel, rather than the HD simply because the show is in SD, and it takes up less hard drive space to record in SD. No point in wasting valuable space when there's no noticeable difference in picture quality.

Default TVLand

Yes it is, but TVland also shows brand new shows such as Hot in Cleveland, Retired at 35, The Exes, Happily Divorced and The Soul man.

I'd still like to see Bio HD make its way to Bell. I'm not sure if they operate in HD in Canada yet though.

I don't think we will see any new channels. Bell is focusing on aquiring Astral Media.

Ok I've given up on Speed HD but what about NHL Network and NFL Network ? Bell just doesn't seem to care about their sports content. Rogers and Cogeco offer these channels in HD. Drop the Oprah Network and add something worth watching...
