OK....problems again with the PVR Extender. Spoke with a Rogers CSR last night. Firmware update had been pushed out to us on May 23rd. The power failure that we had on June 1st caused a "reboot" which "activated" the new firmware....and thus the problems.

CSR stated that they have a lot of tickets open on it. Their technical team is working on it, but no time frame available for a fix yet.

Can't say 100% that it was due to the constant HSUD that was experienced over the last few months, but sometime this morning the SATA hard drive in my external enclosure seems to have gone to hard drive heaven.

I was having issue watching the last bit of LeMans coverage this morning.
Went to rewind and the PVR rebooted itself.

The PVR rebooted itself again about 15 minutes later.

I tried a power cut and reboot of the enclosure and PVR.

Whirrrr tick tick tick whirr tick tick tick

I let it cool down for a few hours, reconnected to the PVR, rebooted.
PVR doesn't even see the external drive anymore.

Had a missed recording today as well. Not sure if it was due to the impending drive failure or the firmware - this was first time I've had a failed recording since this fiasco started so I am assuming it was the drive problem.

Since it appears we lost around 65 out of 73 recordings, I'm tempted to update the 4.5 year old internal drive to a 500 GB drive and forget about the enclosure altogether.

Today all of my PVRs were frozen. I had to do hard reboot and, as usual, everything recorded on all of my three eHDD can't be accessed.

All is fine with my 3x 8300HD units at home and the lady-friends 8300HD (with upgraded internal drive). Must be something in your area/setup...

My 8300HD was on channel 01 yesterday, so Rogers pushed an update at some point. Since then, the drive is shutting off properly and not HSUDing. *crosses fingers*

Any idea what time it rebooted? Our PVR rebooted 3-4 times between 5 and 6 PM yesterday. We discovered this because like you, it was on channel 1 and recordings between 5 and 6 yesterday evening were split into 4 segments each! I thought it might have been the spontaneous rebooting problem people complained about after the first update! Other than the split recordings, all other recordings remained intact.

You can easily check the time by going to the diagnostic screen (hold the select button until the mail light goes on, press info, its on the first page near the bottom)

I know what time(s) ours rebooted. I was wondering about metalhawk, since usually, when Rogers pushes through an update, it is during the middle of the night. I was curious if metalhawk or anyone else for that matter, experienced the same thing we did yesterday evening.

the FW push are not pushed to everybody at once but within a period of several days. Considering I received my new FW Sunday morning (and my parents -- who live within the same block experienced the same too). I think you're receiveing the same FW update as mine.

All my eHD recordings got wiped out again this moring (well overnight I'm assuming).

4th time since Sept.

Called support again. In previous instances they did actually admit that it was a known problem that was being worked on, and gave me a small credit for my troubles.

This time though the tech support said he hadn't heard of any issues like this before. Put me on hold several times, each time to talk to a level 2 tech support, each time coming back saying there aren't any issues, and it must be my eHD. I told him over and over that it's not an issue with the eHD because it's now the 4th time it's happened under the exact same circumstances (the same as it always has happened). Put me on hold again and came back and said "Oh, maybe there are some issues". Opened a ticket and said I'd be called back in 24-48 hours.

I'm getting tired of this uselessness! It's like playing Russian Roulette waking up every so often wondering if my recordings are still going to be there. Not to mention the absolute final kick in the teeth of manually deleting, 1 by 1, several hundred listed recordings that aren't there anymore.

There was another push a couple of days ago. Now 1st showing will have "new" logo on the selected show and you can also select to record ((I'm paraphrasing) "record all new show of this program on this channel" so theoretically even if the show time is moved, it will automatically record the new show of a selected program title.

I just saw that new feature. It says "First run only on this channel" and it appears after you select all anytime on this channel. It would be nice if it allowed recording of later occurances if it wasn't able to make the first one because the PVR was busy with other recordings. For example, if a show appeared at 9:00 PM on a Monday and a couple more times through the week, it would normally record that show on Monday, but if you set up two other recordings at 9:00 PM on Monday, it would defer until a later run is on. Multiple runs are common on some channels such as Discovery.

Now *** THAT *** is progress !
Maybe someone with some influence at Rogers is listening (to this forum) after all?
If so - thanks for listening and making a positive move on this oft requested new feature. Maybe not perfect in everyone's eyes - but it's a start.

Agreed, how is it going to handle conflicts if say, you have three first runs that are auto-set and they all are running at the same time.
