Default Just ordered a 6100 direct from bell

Im a current Bell subscriber so i had to pay the $599 price. Since i require the upgrade kit (I live in BC and have the 18" dish 4500 model), it cost an extra $99 for that. Inside the kit is a $60 programming credit to be spread out over 3 months.

It will be shipped on monday morning via Canada Post Courier Express. Bell said it would take 3-4 days. Cant wait to see HD on my tv.

When i was just playing around in the programmming section of Bells site it said i did not need to order the Networks package if i order the HD package.

With all due respect I gotta say 'thanks Bell for screwing over your existing customers yet again!!!!" Once more you have to pay extra for something just because you are an existing customer??? WTF?!

Something that joe off the street can get for 499 will cost us $700 just because we've been foolish dedicated customers?!

That's pretty much sealed my decision to go with Starchoice!!!

You are right!
Unfortunately Videotron has a DVI output that does not work and the price over 800.
Starchoice has inferior HD content...
I too have purchased the 6100 for 599. !!

I hear u Brintdw...I was grinding my teeth the whole time i was on the phone. I wanted to complain about how Bell treats its customers once they have signed up.

But if u want the best HD selection in my area of BC (only Bell and Starchoice) u have to go with Bell. Yes longtime loyal customers should be given the same deal as new customers.

Oh well, grin and bear it and be glad we have the luxury of having access to this stuff. Beats living in the Middle East.

Rogerduvernay, Elvisator - are you two currently 'on contract' with Bell. I notice that the website says it's 499 for the 6120 with a 24 month contract. I'm not currently on any kind of contract.

Since i was an existing customer with Bell, i paid 599. + 99. for my dish update (18in to 20in). And no contract! The 499. is for NEW customers only!

and only if they sign a 1 or 2 year contract with minimum $36/mo programming commitment.

price is still $599 for a 30 day term - but at least a new sub will get the dish w/ upgrade kit and the $60 programming credit.

A new sub will not get a $60 credit.

No offense here, but new subs are getting the same consideration as you did when you first signed up. I got a $100 programming credit when I first signed up 4 years ago too. I understand it's disappointing that you don't get any rebates as an existing customer, but remember the deal you got when you first signed up. New subscribers today aren't being treated any differently than you were.

Unless of course you got ExpressVu during a time period when no sign up incentives were being offered, but honestly I can't remember when that might have happened.

and new customers has to sign up a contract for either one year or two, and if they break the contarct they have to pay $200, so its not that bell treating new customers differently, its same if you go into details.

That is not correct. New customers can still opt for a 30 day contract term (month to month) but they will not get the $100 discount on the hardware that 1/2yr contract customers receive under normal circumstances.

Okay so now I'll ask another dumb question. Since you required the dish upgrade kit - why didn't you just buy the 6120 and save yourself 99 bucks?

For all,

I too just ordered the 6100 (receiver only) from Bell ExpressVu. I had a 6000 previously so I already have the 20 inch dish and Y yoke with 2X lnb and switches.

The price I was given as an existing subscriber for the 6100 only was $599 + $100 programming credit.

I also get a $60 satellite upgrade credit on my account for the dual satellite upgrade ( I hadn't used it previously). Anyone ordering as an existing subscriber will get this deal.

In the end the deal is pretty good. Granted is you are an existing subscriber and need the new dish you will get a 6100 receiver only for $599 + $100 programming credit and then you will pay for the dish upgrade kit which I believe is $100-129 but will also get the $60 credit for the satellite upgrade along with the upgrade kit.

Hope this clears things up a little bit for everyone. Also do not forget about inquiring about your digital bundles if you also have Bell Mobility and Bell Sympatico.

We left Bell last week for EXACTLY this reason. Their CS is VERY poor right now as well. My wife was so ticked that she got a call back from a Bell CS VP who admitted to her that they were looking into new ways to offer existing subs better hardware upgrade/purchase options and that due to the success of the rental camapign, the call center are jammed and people ar grumpy.

We left anyway.

I imagine we will re-sub down the road when they get this all sorted out.
