Has anyone tried to use Google Phone with an iPad/iPad 2?
If so, does it work well? We are planning a summer trip overseas and that would fit the bill nicely. I've got a Magic Jack but would prefer to leave the MacBook Pro at home for this trip. |

What do you mean by Google Phone? Are you referring to Google Voice?

Google Voice doesn't work in Canada, sadly. It's also not a VOIP app. Gmail calling might work, I've never tried, but I'd bet they don't have an iOS plug-in. You'd still be restricted to outgoing calls only.

That's Gmail calling. You can use it to dial out but not receive calls. Like I said, it might work on iOS, but you need the Google voice/video chat plugin and I doubt there is an iOS one. I could be wrong though.

Yeah well, that would be the reason I started the thread.

Gmail calling. It's sort of a division of Google Voice, but it's a VOIP service unlike Google Voice.

Lookup the Talkatone app. I occasionally use it to make/receive google voice calls on my iPad and it works ok.

Thank you very much ironmike. I just got my iPad yesterday and after looking at their site this seems to be what I want.
I am feeling a little foolish though since I never considered getting a softphone and using my voip.ms account which I already have setup at home. There are just so many goodies associated with this new toy. Cheers. |
