Probably the RCP program....

There is a lot of competition out there right now, I would be trying to keep exisiting customers from jumping to a competitor for free stuff to if I were Bell!

Yup, I've got one of those 'flags' on my bill too...it's been there for several months.

I have three receivers...this flag would seem to be for my 9200, which I've "rented" for three or four years.

In addition, I own a 6131 which I've had for two years, plus my first PVR, a 5100, which I purchased TEN years ago this month!

The 9241 I have came by way of the RCP, I don't have a flag on the bill, the latest invoice that I have after taking delivery of the receiver is no different.

I noticed that the new local HD channels are now available on my 6131 and9241 receivers, but not on my 9200 and 6100.

I called Bell customer support to find out if my purchased 9200 and 6100 were now obsolete, and if so was Bell going to replace them.

The support person was not immediately aware of this issue, and had to check with someone else. She said the channels were not available on the older equipment, and the only solution they could provide was to sell me a new 9241 for $499.

Looks like a good time to check out the competition.

I have a hard time believing that any 'new' HD channels would not be available on the supported HD receivers?

This is well covered elsewhere in this Forum.

Yes, the new HD Channels 6 of them are MPEG4.
Yes, they are only available on the 6131, 6141, 9241 & 9242 models.

Bell TV will be swapping out the 9200 & 6100 Receivers for the newer ones starting in mid to late October, from what I hear.

This is information that is not available to Bell technical support apparently.

Even if they are going to swap the receivers in October, this was not an adequate response to my complaint.

Bell are a communications Company, the chances of them actually communicating is slim to none.

Right now if you have a service call for any reason and the Tech finds a 6100 or 9200 (Used in Single Mode and not used for OTA reception) they are authorized to swap them out whilst on site with either a 6131 or 9241.

And I actually said that I had heard they would be "Starting" the swap in October, this will take months to complete, so do not expect an MPEG4 receiver on your doorstep October 1st.

You can't live without 6 local channels for another month? Besides, you must not have complained very hard, they're practically giving the 9241 away these days with their RCP plan.

The major annoyance for me is that of my 4 x HD PVR's, I only ran the OTA to 2 of them, of course they just happen to be the 2 x 9242's, so the only receivers I get CHCH HD on, via OTA, also get CHCH HD via Nimiq 82.....

Might spend some time moving Receivers around the house this weekend.

I have a 9200 and we watch 1 channel while recording another, watch a recording while recording 2 others. This requires dual tuners something the 6131 does not have. We would not accept a 6131 in replace of the 9200 at that point i would get rid of bell since they have jack me around with HD since there was only the 1 channel in HD and RGB out.

It again ticks me off that they are now input additional HD channels and hiding them from me exactily what they did with Golf HD since i had an older package that included golf SD. The swap out better come soon. I think i will phone and ask to get the new HD channels on my plan.

Regards

The point is that the rep did not inform me of the swap, but instead suggested that I buy a new receiver.

When specifically asked if Bell was replacing the obsolete equipement, she said that it was not.

That's because that even if the rep heard rumors, they have to stick to the official line. Most likely, she had no clue and will be informed the morning they start the swap, at which time she will simply start reading from another script.

Well that is just it, the rep you get may not have the latest information when you reach them, as was mentioned earlier, they seem to be sending out a lot of 9241's via the RCP program...

And if as has been mentioned they are going to swap out the 9200's them patience is all that is required, or I guess a sufficient time sent on the phone!
