Default Led Zeppelin Remasters

Is there enough improvement over the origianal Redbook issues to warrant a double dip ?

... and $20.

III could use a good remaster.

I have a 1999 comp produced by Jimmy Page:

Led Zeppelin 'Early Days The Best of Led Zepplin Volume I'

Atlantic CD 83268

This is probably the best sounding that I've heard them on CD.

I've pondered the same question Filper. I compared my vinyl Zep Brit imports that I got in '77 to the first CD releases and thought the CDs were OK. Zep 1 is still my favorite, the import vinyl is much better than the orig issue.

I would like to know how the re-masters sound and certainly can afford them but balk at the thought of purchasing these same albums for the fourth time :-?

Anyone?, anyone?, Bueller...?

If they're good, another III will be my fifth copy...

A quintuple dip.

Packaging is cool.

The comp I have would be derived from the same re-masters as the albums therefore the individual titles should be better sounding than the earlier releases.

I saw the Vol.1 and Vol. 2 double set for $5 more than single album.

I might just get that instead.

Ok. If they are better than the orig. CD issues that's fine by me. I'll go for it, still some of the best blues based Rock-N-Roll ever.

The Early/Latter Days double set is definitely an improvement over previous Redbook releases.

I am assuming this compilation is the same as the remaster issues, but Early Days was released the year before III was supposedly remastered (according to the jacket notes on the III remaster release).

Anyone know for sure ?

Were these tracks 'cleaned up' for the Early/Latter release and then again remastered a year later ?

Filper, did you get the "new style" package Zep III re-master(made in Germany) or the jewel case? Saw all the re-masters at BB yesterday but didn't bite.

Ya, I got the LP packaging issue.

Now I think I'll get "Houses Of The Holy" if I can find it.

It's nice to have the original artwork 'album' covers and if all CD's were released this way, they sure would have taken up much less space on my shelf.

To me, this remaster release was worth every penny. It's cool.

I did an 'apples to apples' comparison with two digital connections to my receiver switching inputs with both the original Redbook release and this remaster playing at the same time.

The soundstage is more vibrant and clarity is stellar for an analogue recording of this vintage.

III is mostly an acoustic album and the tonal qualities of Jimmy's guitar(s) are improved 200%. There is a definite resonance in the guitar strings.

It's a treat !

Yeah, 'Tangerine' has a great bridge from acoustic to that screamin' electric solo, I'll never forget the first time I heard it.

OK, already, I'm goin' to Best Buy or A&A get I, II & III and flog my old ones....
