I just hooked up my upstairs amp to the receiver, the installer hooked up his portable monitor for the switch check and that was it. I punched in the music station I like to listen to and it was all good. If they do give me a phone call, I'm just going to tell them exactly what I have and if they want to sent someone out to verify it - so be it. But seriously, I don't think they will ever call since I only have the two receivers authorized, but, I suppose someone could use this as an excuse if Bell did call you and you had 'loaned' out your second receiver.

Default Suspend service or cancel?

So for the past few years I suspend my service at my seasonal cottage. Would it make more sense to suspend service for 6 months (6x$10=60) OR just cancel and then become a new subscriber every year?
What are the costs, activation fees, etc..
Somehow it would seem cheaper just to cancel?
I`m not locked in a contract or have any receiver rental fees.

Default Price Increase

My Nov invoice has a note saying that Bell TV will increase by 3$ in 2012.

I suppose this affects everyone (base package), but since I am in QC maybe it is only here and not the other provinces...

Anyone else get a similar notice?

It's worse than I thought.

Internet is also up 2$.

So home phone 2$, TV 3$ and internet 2$.

Bend over and take a 7$ increase next year.

Called retentions and got the following:

20$ off programming credit for TV (same as last year)
Free HD 6131 rental
10$ off home phone (5$ credit than last year)
5$ off internet (same as last year - no 50% off deals in Quebec like they have in Ontario)

Hard to stay ahead!!!

Does the increase apply to all subscribers.....those who own their own equipment. If true then this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back....at least in our case. Drastic reductions will be the order of the day.

When I spoke to retentions yesterday, she seemed to say that everyone was going up 3$ on basic programming.

Default Best signup deal from Bell?

Longtime shaw subscriber looking to head over to BEV and looking for any info on how to get the best deal out of them when signing up.

Looking to get 2 HD boxes (one a pvr) and one SD box initially.

Can I squeeze any discounts/freebies out of them?

Was wondering... in order to get US HD NETS do I have to keep the SD equivalents? I do currently get the HD version of PBS but I do not get the SD channels... (via the US NETS Timeshifting HD add-on I guess). For the others I do get both but I have not watched an SD USA NET in over 2 years...

Would be a good way to clear 4 channels from my a la cart selections.

Thanks, Happy New Year & Go Canada!!

Ok, just looking at programming. The US HD NETS are a part of the basic package... I had no idea. Dropping SD channels then.

If anyone has more info on this please share ;-)

Not sure what you mean. We only pay for the $1 regular US Timeshift option and receive the SD+HD for them.

I dropped the $1 SD time shift channels about 6 months ago. I never watch the SD versions, so figured why should I pay for them. The $1 has been removed from my bill, but the stations are still on my receivers.

TVA Sports was put in a "sports" theme, which is ok.

Other stations from Quebecor were put in odd places.

When is "à-la-carte" coming to other provinces?

"a-la-carte" is a French thing put in place by Bell to meet their competitors offerings in Quebec. I doubt that it will ever be offered in the rest of Canada. That's too bad because by my reckoning I would save at least $20/month under the programme.
