I've mentioned an iPad app before. I'd love to be able to control my PVR from my iPad.
Here' is AT&T's. I believe that AT&T and Aliant use the same platform: http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/a...anion-feature/ |

I'd like to have TV on my Xbox. Someone mentioned this elsewhere on this site when the folks in NB and NS were being upgraded to Mediaroom 2.0. I noticed that Telus is now offering this in Canada through their Optik TV service (see http://telus.com/content/tv/optik/se...tv-on-xbox.jsp).

Yes, the XBOX thing would free up an input on the TV. It should be pretty low-hanging fruit, given that everyone else on the MS platform supports it.

Wireless set tops are being trialed right now. To be used in hard to wire areas of the home.

Well that wouldn't be any better. If it's in an area where wiring might be a problem, wireless might not be the best solution. Especially when we are talking HD streaming from one box to another.

the total bandwidth used by bellaliant tv service is 58mbps into the home I think wireless would handle this bandwidth no problem

It's... complicated. It is entirely possible that for a lot of situations wireless could work but in some locations due to conditions it may not, and in others the conditions may change a lot causing issues that would be hard to track down. You can't guarantee bandwidth on wireless 100% of the time.

Having played around with this wireless setup it works perfectly. Granted it depends on variables in each home. Wiring is an issue for people when they don't want cat5 cables being run along their trim and holes being drilled. They can test it and if it doesn't work they wont install it. There is no latency when using it, I was surprised. The PVR set top is always hard wired.

granted i know when it comes to wireless there could be a lot of problems but if the option was available i would use it as one of the 4 boxes i have in my home. the main reason i would want something like this is to be able to take it out on the back deck in the patio without having to worry about wiring

I've actually turned down the broadcasting power of the actiontech as I could pick up a signal across the street on the sidewalk. Even as I type right now, I"See" a neighbours fibreop connection being broadcasted, the house is and two houses down and across the street so I do find the signal quite powerful.

whats wrong with that? as long as you have a strong wifi password you shouldn't have to worry about what wifi networks you or your neighbors could see.

It's also called being a nice user of the 2.4GHz spectrum. It's pretty crowded so if you can reduce your signal for others... their stuff will work better.

Sorry if this might have been addressed, but:
Has anyone else had an issue with Windows Media Centre compatibility with the update? I've lost the ability to control my set top with my computer's remote in WMC. I have it hooked up via S-video, and it was working fine on Monday, but my update went through Tuesday, and now I can't chance the channels with my WMC remote. It flickers, and according to WMC, the channel has changed, but it doesn't change on the set-top I'm still getting the video feed, but this is rather disappointing.
