8300 HD PVR purchase and activation
I moved to Rogers from Bell mainly because I wanted more channels in russian and Rogers has 5 (Bell just 2...) The box Rogers provided is standard, not PVR, eighter HD-PVR and I would like to buy 8300HD in the FutureShop. Should PVR purchased at FutureShop be activated? Will Rogers charge me extra for this switch when I activate a new box as I am going to view HD now (if activation is necessary of course...)? Will it be a one-time fee or monthly fee for the whole period of the contract (24 months)?
Please, provide as much information as possible before I pick up the phone to Rogers...
Thanks in advance.

1. You will need to call Rogers to activate the new PVR. Although they may have a one-time activation charge, most people manage to negotiate it's waiver if they do charge.
2. There should be no additional monthly charge to stay on the same package.
3. Here's what's available from Rogers in HD.

Future Shop sells Rogers PVRs in Rogers areas. Rogers won't charge you any more if you use only the one box. If you move the original converter to another TV, you might or might not be charged more, depending on your plan. With the VIP package, you get up to 4 sets included in the price.
