^^^^^^
Since this has always been one of my troubled stations...I'd say you're being bit by an extreme "Tropo" bug. You may have to tweak your antenna aim in order to get it.

@majortom,

I've noticed that ION is extremely grainy too.

Majortom,

At times, I notice the same thing with ION 51.1. Usually it is fine. But it has happened enough times that I recognized what you're describing.

That would be good, if their RF45 was not so directional, into Canada. I have issues with it, here in Belleville. You need a good tropo push, to get the best results. Also, have you noticed a slight dip in ERP from the two VHF's out of Rochester lately? They used to be very consistent, here in Belleville, but they are now only an 80% receivable commodity. Just one last thing, are you getting WWNY, down Brighton way, since they boosted their ERP?

The 10 O'clock news on FOX 31 will also be in HD.

It is unfortunate that RF45 has such a strong null to the north,
though it comes in most of the time here albeit weaker than the
other Rochester channels.

RF10 and RF13 still seem normal to me... quite reliable and strong.
WWNY comes in often during good reception days, but is not reliable.
Are we sure they have increased their power yet?
I thought is was going to be in the Fall sometime.

Note: I just use a CM4228 for VHF-HI which serves well for 10 & 13, but
not so good for 7.

Just read that CoolTV is no more on Sinclair owned stations. Just picked up WNYO here 217mi away and wondered why 49-2 was black.

Any word if WNYO's going to replace The Cool TV?

Where did you read this? License agreement expired? Was anything mentioned about the future of 49.2?

Honestly it was just a low budget compilation of old, live at milly's bar & grill type videos, few were recent and some of the unknown band videos appeared to be homemade or shot using a cheap cellphone. I don't think the viewership of coolTV was very successful because of the mediocre content.

I can't find any info online about MyTV subchannel status or any announcements about changes to a new subchannel affilliation.

CMT on fox 29.2 may be facing the same demise due to their boring repeat daily set-lists. I noticed when googling Fox that some other Fox subchannels have changed from CMT to Bounce TV.

Bounce tv has terrible programming sooner see This TV or Me leave WBBZ and go onto 49.2 since WBBZ is too weak to receive for most.

The only blurb that I have seen is from the CoolTV Wiki pages. Close to the end: "On the afternoon of August 31, 2012, TheCoolTV was dropped from all Sinclair Broadcasting stations."

There is a link at the end of the blub, that takes you to a discussion forum about it here.

Default Is CoolTV in financial distress?

Sounds like CoolTV is lacking in the cash coffers.

Journal announced that they would file a lawsuit against the parent company of TheCoolTV for non-payment of broadcast services; so far Journal has decided to replace the Milwaukee version with Live Well Network and in Green Bay, with Me-TV, as of October 1, 2011.

On the afternoon of August 31, 2012, TheCoolTV was dropped from all 32 Sinclair Broadcasting stations that carried the channel. No reason has been given, other than a very brief message from Jim Wright, the Regional Engineering Manager for Sinclair, who said: "We are no longer carrying CoolTV on all Sinclair stations as of this afternoon."

SBG is building a potfolio of new options.

BALTIMORE (July 19, 2012) -- Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI), the “Company” or “Sinclair,” announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the broadcast assets of six television stations owned and/or operated by Newport Television (“Newport”) for $412.5 million. The six stations are located in five markets and reach 3.0% of the U.S. TV households.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KSAS-TV
On July 19, 2012, Newport Television announced the sale of KSAS-TV to Sinclair Broadcast Group as part of a group deal worth and estimated total of $1 billion involving the sale of 22 stations to Sinclair, Nexstar Broadcasting Group and Cox Media Group. Included in the purchase is the acquisition of the station's local marketing agreement with KMTW
Quote:

The stations to be acquired are:

WKRC (CBS 12) Cincinnati, Ohio (DMA 35)

WOAI (NBC 48) San Antonio, Texas (DMA 36)

WHP (CBS 21) Harrisburg/Lancaster/Lebanon/York, Pennsylvania (DMA 41)

WPMI (NBC 15) and WJTC (IND 45) Mobile, Alabama/Pensacola, Florida (DMA 60)

KSAS (FOX 26) Wichita/Hutchinson, Kansas (DMA 67)

Sinclair will also acquire Newport's rights under the local marketing agreements with WLYH (CW 23) in Harrisburg, PA and KMTW (MNT 35) in Wichita, KS, as well as options to acquire the license assets.

The Company has also entered into agreements with Deerfield Media, Inc. to sell Deerfield the license assets of one of Sinclair's stations in San Antonio (KMYS CW), and Sinclair's station in Cincinnati (WSTR MY), subject to FOX Television Stations purchase option with respect to WSTR which expires March 31, 2013, and to assign Deerfield the right to buy the license assets of WPMI and WJTC in the Mobile/Pensacola market, after which the Company will provide sales and other non-programming services to each of these four stations pursuant to shared services and joint sales agreements.

Newport also broadcasts several secondary channels, including CW and MNT, among others, which will also be acquired as part of this transaction.

Separately, the Company announced that it entered into an agreement to purchase the assets of Bay Television, Inc. (Bay TV), which owns WTTA-TV (MNT) in the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida market, for $40 million. Bay TV is owned primarily by our controlling shareholders. Since 1998, Sinclair has operated WTTA pursuant to a local marketing agreement, which will be terminated upon closing. As this transaction is between entities under common control, a fairness opinion was obtained by Sinclair's Board of Directors. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2012, subject to approval of the FCC.
