Hey Verd, good question. At this point in time it is not flexible and built around the contents it has. Carriage fees and the like do come into the equation when we price up offerings. For example even though both packs sell for the same price on the face of it, it looks ok but maybe our margin isn't as good on one as the other, or even stipulations that we may have to abide by in the way some channels are sold. So there are a few other considerations to take into account behind the scenes.

I noticed that come Nov 1 I get to pay Shaw another $5/month, that is getting to be a hefty price increase this year. (I'm on Digital Basic + High Speed) Talking with customer care, that's +$2 TV and +$3 internet this time around. The personalized plan won't get an increase this time (even if you bundle it with the same High Speed Internet), so the price differential increases. Thus the beginnings of trying to force people onto the new plans. Plus they tell me the new SPP plan is entirely digital and I would lose access to all analog channels, that sucks.
I'm teetering on the edge of dumping it all. Either I keep paying more and more, or buy new equipment just to have my TV keep working. |

Yes the personalizer plan is all digital but you would still receive all the basic channels and any others you want except they would be in digital only.

@jericho, if you ahv basic cable, maybe all the channels are covered within Personal TV? but for those who had full digital up to 59, there are MANY channels missing from the Personal TV. Just a heads up gang.

Just wondering if anyone knows, does triple play discount apply to any combination of TV, Internet, and Phone? Or does it only apply to a specific bundle?

Bowmah, all the channels you receive with regular cable are available in the personalizer they are just bundled differently.

@jericho, are you saying channel 1-59 is inside Personal TV? This is definitely not the case. I guess it depends on what your definition of regular cable is.

Hi. Sorry if this is in the wrong area, I've been searching and only found a few posts on this.
Like others I am not happy with the changeover to all digital, but understand it somewhat. What I don't understand is why I have to pay to rent additional boxes to keep getting the three tiers on the rest of my televisions in the house. We have a HD Pace box on our HT TV, but the other three tv's just have the 3 tiers. I understand I have to buy or rent boxes to continue getting those tiers on our bedroom tv's. My issue is Shaw is changing this to free up bandwidth, so why should I have to pay/rent additional equipment to receive what I'm already paying for. I do understand that they will give one box out, but how many people have just one tv anymore. Has anyone been successful in getting more than one box supplied by shaw with no increase in monthly fees? I am going to call them soon and request enough boxes to cover all my tv's or I will start looking around. We have had cablevision for over 30 years and have been for the most part very satisfied...... |

I'm looking to do some changes to my account in order to some save some money each month.
I did the personalizer thingy and got the following: Base Price $99.90 + Sports 1 $10 + Entertainment 1 $10 High-Speed 7.5MBPS -$10.00 Home Phone Personal -Included Your plan $109.90 With BC HST = $123.08 I'm currently paying $136.90 for: Digital TV + High Speed $108.95 HD Plus $12.00 Modem Discount -5.00 Home Phone Basic $20.95 With 12% tax comes to 153.32 So $30 a month is a pretty good savings, but is that even right? I did the personalizer a couple of times and comes out the same. I know I'd be losing some HD channels and a few regular channels but for $30 a month its not a big deal. |

@satanshollow, you will be losing a truck load of channels. Call Shaw and get them to send you a guide and walk you through exactly which channel you will lose. You have to figure out if you can live without those channels by saving the $30 a month. Also, don't forget about the $35 bundle theme pack and the $50 (or $55?) bundle theme pack. Look around in these forums. They have been talked about.

Thanks bowmah, it looks like I wouldn't qualify as I just have High Speed internet according to the last page of this thread.
I'm considering Telus's Optik package of phone/internet and tv. |
