Well, that depends on what you need. It doesn't have to cost $150 to get all the HD channels.
For example, I have HD w/Dig Basic, HD Plus, SHSI 7.5, and SDP Basic. This provides me with all the HD channels and a fair number of SD channels. The pricing for this would be $38.95+16+39+24.95=118.90 based on current Winnipeg pricing. I'm missing a few channels, such as Spike or Space, but I can live without them, and I'll get them anyway once they go HD. |

Does anyone out there know if Shaw has a retention phone number? I have heard that they have a supposed retention department....

At most places the number is internal only. Just ask and I'm sure they can transfer you.

My Shaw Triple Play package comes up at the end of the month. It was costing me ~$90/month with the 50 mbs internet, home phone, and seemingly all the HD channels.
I'd like to keep my bill in that same ball park. Considering I've never even hooked up a phone to the phone line, that will save me $15/month. However, I'd like to add Setanta (even though it's not HD However, I'm wondering if there are benefits in not using the personalizer and trying to stick with what I already have? Thanks for the feedback |

So has anyone moved from HD Plus to Personalizer? HD Plus and Extreme = ~$150 / month after tax. Going from that to Personalizer (+$40 in themes) + Broadband 50 (with almost equivalent channels less a few that we barely watch) is about $12 cheaper after tax. Has anyone made this transition and are you happy with it?
As for pricing promos, I was offered the usual 12 month free rental of the 3400 and then option to purchase it at 50%. Is this as could as I can get for now? Have not kept up with Shaw promos lately. |

There are benefits in NOT using the Personalizer in that you get to keep the tiered lineups you already have and not have to pay for each channel based on its category. That's a definite benefit if you watch a variety of programming, and not just sports or just movies.
For example, I get Treehouse(SD), HD timeshifts, TSN HD, CNNHD, TLCHD, and AMCHD. That's all included with Digital Basic and HD Plus ($12). With internet [7.5] and phone, I'm sitting at $110. Switching to Personalizer, I'd need at minimum Family, News, Sports1, Movies, Timeshift, Ent1, which would cost me $50 in themes, or $140/mo. |

So I guess it depends on what you watch. I can live without timeshift and I never watch any of the movies from Shaw. That is already a $15 savings. So can you tell me what Digital Basic channels are?

I was speaking to a Loyalty rep tonight and he mentioned that Shaw will be making drastic changes to the Personal TV and the Theme Packs for the SPP. Mostly in response to peoples feedback on how bad SPP is for TV.
He did mention that he heard that these changes are coming Aug 31, but he could not confirm it. Take it with a grain of salt..... |

Why does the price of high speed internet jump to $75 on SPP?
If I were switching internet providers would Shaw allow me to do SPP for TV on its own? |

Hey all,
Shaw has a new Shaw Plan Personalizer package out called "Choice Pack" It consists of the following theme packs:
The Choice Pack sells for $35.00/month as an add on, and a customer must have Personal TV and Extreme internet or higher for this to be applicable. Personal TV and Extreme Internet(25mbps) sells @ $84.90 Personal TV and Broadband 50mbps sells also @ $84.90 Those interested in the above package would then add the $35 to the $84.90. Shaw Home Phone is an optional $15/month if desired to add this on with this set up. The Choice Pack saves $10 from picking the theme packs out separately. To have the Shaw Plan Personalizer package you must have both TV and Internet as they are bundled together.

I guess it's nice to have another 'package' option but this is still full of garbage channels and doesn't have all of the ones I want or need. Any chance there are still more options to come?

Hey Jetranger
There could be some further modifications coming but as and when I do not know sorry. I can tell you there has been a lot of talk regarding HD and specifically pick and pay we shall have to see what happens. Considerations on our side of re-negotiation with other providers/ owners of stations like Rogers and Bell coupled with any changes that we are mandated to abide by through CRTC.

Ditto. I really hope Shaw comes out with an all HD package on the SPP. These packs are still bundled with SD channels that I don't need or watch.

I hear you atong, but I would think that this would only be more feasible for Shaw once more customers go HD capable. (which is growing very rapidly due to free rental HD box with Plan Personalizer)
