Big four Canadian cable companies top 3.5 million phone customers - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

It has now been over five years since cable telephony first launched in this country and the number of Canadians receiving cable telephone service from Canada's big four cable companies - Rogers, Shaw, Vidéotron and Cogeco - now tops 3.5 million.

Using numbers published in the respective company’s most recent financial results, Digital Home has calculated that the big four cable providers now have 3,547,003, up 18.2% from the same time in 2009 and up 46% from the same time in 2008.

No surprise though; I like my Shaw Digital Phone and had long since been eagerly awaiting more competition in the industry.

Hugh, do you know if the telcos are gaining a similar amount of TV subscribers and it's just customer shuffling, or are the cable companies just gaining oodles of customers?
