Videotron Cisco 4642HD & 8642HD now available

Same price than before. the 8642HD is the new PVR. It have 500GB HD with faster processor.

Don't know yet if they implement any of the options (Multiroom PVR, etc)

Just as an FYI, there are threads on both of these in the Rogers forums. You may wish to have a look at those threads. There's also a comparison thread between the 8300 and 8642. Not saying that what you see will be identical, however, much of it probably will.

I spoke to someone at a Videotron store today, not only did they not know anything about it, but made fun of me for even brining it up. I really hope i can get Bell in my new condo.

Where is the 8642HD sold?
Future Shop does not seem to have it
I don't see it on the Costco and Videotron web sites
All of them just show the 320gig model

It's only sold thru Customer Service. They will have a tech. go to your house with the new Cisco model. They don't sell it elswhere or advertise it anywhere yet.

There's a rumour saying the 8642HD is going on sale, as of the 18th, for 299$ + 40$ (mandatory installation fee)

That would be a new low for Videotron (but in a good way).

I am skeptical but perhaps they need to attract or maybe even keep customers from jumping ship with an offer like that. Having people BUY hardware is a good way to "lock" people in now that contracts are a thing of the past.

We shall have to wait until Wednesday to find out the nature of the promotion.

Im just pleased they finally found a new box to sell. I've been waiting for
this for a long time and don't even care to pay full price for it, I just didnt
want the old model they've been selling for the last few years.

They wouldn't say what exactly, but the person at Videotron customer satisfaction told me that they are very exciting things coming soon for the new 8640 HD DVR...New features only with that terminal...

The promo by the way is for any customer who doesn't have an HD terminal.
