Despite Job's assertion at launch that the iPhone4 had far superior glass, this study infers otherwise...
My iPhone 3G didn't do very well in this area, so I'm really wary of the 4! |

It seems a little extremist for them to claim iPhone cracks are up 82% when that is still less than 5% total.
Still not good though. The glass front and back seemed like an inherently bad idea to me. |

The info I have read elsewhere is that the cracking almost always occurs with the use of slide-in cases and relates to dirt being trapped in the case and scratching the glass. I find it hard to imagine people using phones with that much dirt in the cases (and what kind of dirt? diamonds?), but every user's work/play environment may not resemble mine.
Apple sources say cracking problems are happening with the rubber bumper guards. |
