Now I got a tedious problem, my image in the SD channel under 1000 are 4.3 and side bares, set my tv format to Full
If I set the PVR resolution to 4:3 I get a full picture or with bars above and below But also my HD have bars above and below. If I set the resolution other than 4:3 I get smaller picture with bars on the sides or above and below in channels under 1000 and full screen in HD which is ok I don't know what happened but I had a full screen with bars above and below in SD and full picture in HD, I tried several setups with the PVR , tV format and Receiver and cannot set it up right. Did I miss on something. tia |

Don't know about Fibe but with Bell Satellite that can be adjusted and fixed with the remote.

You need to leave the PVR is surround mode, then press the D/ST button on the bottom of the remote until the AVR shows "Direct" on it's display. This disables prologic and gives you the signal just as it comes. If you're on a channel that's stereo, it will be in stereo, if you're on say TMN, it will be in 5.1 Prologic and matrix sound are decent in theory, but in practice, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. |

Direct is how it should be, it's not fake surround, it's "Directly" playing what the PVR is sending it.
"Direct" is the correct mode for the Denon to be on. Not all channels are in 5.1, let alone the number of broadcasts that are in 5.1 are even smaller. I suspect the issue has been all along, you've been running in Matrix mode, an emulation of 5.1 rather then playing back the sounds as they come from the broadcaster. I'm not near my Denon right now, but I'd suggest highly, put it in Direct mode, then open up the on screen menu, go to the audio status page, and watch it while you flip the channels. Mine is called, "Audio Input Signal" You'll see something like below; Surround Mode DIRECT Input Signal Dolby Fs 48kHz Format / 2 /.0 With the settings correct, you will get 5.1 on channels that are sending out in 5.1, but even if the channel is 5.1, if the broadcast isn't in 5.1, you will get stereo. |

I put it in direct mode
and as I change channel still lags 2-2 audio input signal On surround mode: Dolby PLII cinema signal : Dolby Digital Format 2.0.0 offset -8db no 5.1 Than I change to another channel still lags 2-2 audio input signal On surround mode: Direct signal : Dolby Digital fs 48khz Format 3/2/.1 offset -4db But do get 5.1 When its not Dolby Digital, I see Prologic II appearing in the display and then gets replaced by Dolby Digital giving a 5.1 5.1 sounds better than 2/0/0 But the Lag problem is still there. But my Lag is still there. |

Prologic is fake 5.1, hence the lag, you need to turn to a channel in Pro Logic mode, and set that on Direct, that should ensure that the channels are running untouched.
Also, leave the PVR in surround mode. Either, #1, live with the lag, or #2 run your system in Direct Mode. When the channel is 5.1, it will come out in 5.1, when it's in stereo, it will be 2.0. This is not a Fibe issue at all, this is your AVR, or any AVR, when you swap channel is Matrix/Pro Logic mode, it takes a few seconds to fake up the 5.1 sound. You should try for an evening with everything in Direct, turn to a few different channels, if you see it kick in PL mode, press Direct again, make sure it sticks. That's it, that's all. |

Thanks for your info. I think I will leave it as is. I got use to it in Prologic II, a while ago, I could of seen Prologic II displayed now when non Digital, Prologic flashes and Digital Dolby is displayed. I's weird, I didn't update any firmware. Unless Bell did some thing new.
If you set it up like my system, do you get the lag. Maybe you should try and let me know. |

I don't have this issue, tested with PL/Matrix last night, however there's one caveat here, I use component combined with an optical cable for my PVR.
Perhaps you can test with an optical cable and see if your issue goes away. |

Originally, my system was set up like yours and and too many wires running on the floor. Now I have 3 HDMI wires start from the tv go behind the wall (flat HDMI wires) and its clean. otherwise had to run 11 and I can hook only one optical cable input.
I have bell pvr and PS3 that go the the AVR. Just for the sake of this delay I will try it. when we get cooler weather LOL |

Sometimes when i press the Recording button and all my recording appear, they just dissapear and i have to wait like 2 minutes for them to come back. It also happen when whatching a recorded show. A message pop in the bottom of the screen and If i want to foward pause or anything, the video stop and I need to restart it again. Anyone have an idea what is causing this?
The PVR is connected via RJ45 to modem, other receiver are connected via coax from modem in the walls (new construction). Also my friend just got connected to FibeTV and he's guide and channel up and down are wayyyyyy faster than mine. Any idea why? I have the VIP1232 |

The new PVR your friend has is a lot faster, it's a 2262, not 1232.

Dakkor, I share your pain
Are you accessing the PVR unit directly, or thru a receiver box? My experience, for many months, goes like this: While watching live TV, a recorded show, or just looking thru the recorded shows, on my receiver, I am prompted to "Press select to view available recordings". I figure, OK, so I press Select, and a screen pops up that says there are "No recorded shows to display" Scared the h*** out of me the first few times!! Then after about 6 seconds the screen changes and lists the 8 recorded shows that are all I have. Then, after another 6 seconds, I have 16 shows, then another 8, and another, and so on. Since I really truly have about 160 shows recorded, it takes about 2 minutes for the recorded display to fully refresh. The shows do not reappear in any discernible pattern. While this is going on, I can start to watch a show that has reappeared. When things settle down and I go back to the recorded show I was watching, the "Restart" option actually restarts much earlier in the show than the spot I had reached. Very puzzling. My family in the other room, using the PVR unit directly, have never experienced this problem. Last edited by John769; 2012-07-14 at 09:40 PM. Reason: spelling |
