Default HD static

When I came home from work tonight I noticed that about half of my HD stations where jumpy/showing static/breaking up.

I followed some of the tips in the FAQ and noticed that the "Current FDC" is -13 and the "Current QAM" reading is -20....both well below the described acceptable limit.

My question is this...if I call Rogers will they be able to just adjust the signal strength on their end easily or is it much more complicated than that? Or worse will they tell me that a technician needs to come to my place?

*Of note: (a) I have already tried rebooting the STB and (b) nothing has been changed/moved in my HT setup in over a couple months

TIA

Just to be on the safe side,.

They will definitely have to dispatch a technician. The underground cable at my parents house slowly degraded over a few days period in late February until it pretty much died completely. Rogers had to run a temp cable. As an aside, the folks lost one phase of their AC over the winter too. It's like both cables had a fixed 35 year life span! Either that, or the Earth is pulling apart around their house

I am now able to view the HD stations without any breakups and the signal strength is reading a little bit higher, so perhaps it was just an issue with my area last night as SMCKINNON24 stated. Thanks.

It sounds like your signal is low. I would call them out anyway.

What would cause the signal to suddenly drop? It was fine before and my internet still works fine so I'm hesitant to think its a problem with the cabling.

I don't know. Maybe Rogers was bored, so they had an idea 'Hey, lets lower DBass's signal, just for kicks.'

Perhaps they were doing some work in your area and had to patch things together temporarily for an evening. If everything is back to normal now, I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again.
