Default CBS-HD Seattle audio problem

Last nite (Sep 14) I noticed my recordings of David Letterman and Craig Ferguson on CBS HD Seattle (KIRO) could not play. Same with live show on that channel. Same thing happened this morning with Early Show (7-9am). The diagnostic page on my Pace Aspen box shows both recordings had audio "AC3_Plus" instead of the normal "Dolby_Digital". The recordings do take up space and all the file size #s are perfect but the recordings won't play (i.e. black screen w/o audio and hh:mm numbers won't advance on the slider). OTOH, live TV on KIRO HD sometimes shows video but never with audio. And changing from the messed up channel to any other working channel may not show video either but changing again to any other channel and back (not to KIRO) will bring the video/audio back. I just finished a live chat session on shaw.ca but unfortunately CBS-HD is right now simsubbed with City TV so of course it's working now. Service rep says he'll monitor the situation but I wonder if anybody else also notice the same problem when not simsubbing.

Furthermore, if anybody with KIRO-DT on OTA I would like to know if you have any problem with the audio and what does the stream info says regarding the audio type. I would also be interested in any other TV provider subscribers with KIRO-DT to see if the problem occurs.

To admin: Is there a better section to move this thread to in order to reach audience of other TV provider subscribers? I don't want to cross-post on other sections but I truly believe this problem may apply to other TV provider.

Several times last night I had dropouts on the sound of Kiro during NCIS LA (not simsubbed) on Shaw.

Your sound dropout situations sounds diffferent. In my situation, I could never get the audio back no matter what I did. I checked my recordings just now and David Letterman tonite was still messed up but Craig Ferguson was fine. I guess the problem was probably fixed after midnite.

Maybe this belongs in the Shaw HD PVR thread. The original post said he said a Pace Aspen STB.
