Rogers has CBLT listed as the Habs game. CHEX and most of the other CBC stations are listed as the Leafs. I am still convinced this is a mistake, to not show the Leafs on the Toronto CBC station would be crazy.

The Shaw Direct guide since Tuesday has been showing that CBC stations in BC, Alberta, and Quebec will see the Habs game. All other stations get the Leafs.

Last week all the CBC feeds on TelusTV showed the Ducks/Habs as well. Now the Winnipeg, Toronto & Halifax feeds show the Caps/Leafs, and Edmonton & Vancouver show the Ducks/Habs. Once again I wish I still had Shaw so I could get CBLTD instead of CBC Vancouver HD. Not having more than 1 CBC HD for East/West is just unacceptable. Do they at least have that on Bell?
The regional layout for these two early games is very odd I must say. Doesn't Atlantic Canada usually get the Habs games, and why would Saskatchewan get the Leafs and not Alberta? Again I can see they are dividing it accordingly for the fact that people with Satellite can pick whichever game they want due to having multiple CBC channels, but they completely forget most people won't care since they will want to watch in HD. |

If the Habs game is that much better than the Leafs game, we get the Habs here on the east coast. The fanbases are about equal.
For once, I'm not complaining about getting the Leafs this week. I'm a Caps fan. |

wetcardboard, Bell TV has CBC HD for Toronto, Vancouver and since last summer Montreal.
roger1818, I think your assessment (mixing up) is correct. Down here in PEI, the local station shows Toronto some weeks and Montreal others. I don't think an Ottawa game not involving Toronto or Montreal has ever been chosen for the Sat. night early game although I could be mistaken as I never watch CBC PEI which broadcasts in SD only. |

Generally speaking, if the Leafs matchup is really weak, then Atlantic Canada usually gets a Habs game, rule of thumb I think, if Montreal is playing Ottawa/Boston/Pittsburgh/Washington (Big draws) then they will sub it for the Leafs game. Just this week the star power of the Capitals and improved play (set aside Wednesday) of the Leafs is a better TV matchup then MTL/ANA. I know there are those that will disagree because Saku Koivu is back for the firs time, but that only matters the first shift anyway.

Leaffan1967, this season the Habs-Senators game on Oct. 23 was not seen in Atlantic provinces and the Habs-Penguins on Oct. 9 was not seen in Newfoundland. Last season, the Red Wings-Habs was not offered to the Atlantic provinces.
I have to disagree on the Capitals-Leafs being the better game. The Canadiens are in a playoff position and so are the Ducks. It is nice to watch inter-conference games and the Ducks are conference rivals of the Canucks, Flames, and Oilers. |

Wetcardboard and roger1818, I agree that it is odd not all of western Canada gets the Ducks-Habs game. Part of the reason is the amount of complaints the CBC gets. Many viewers are tired of the Leafs and westerners follow western teams. The Ducks are ten points up on the Flames and ten back of the Canucks.

As for this Saturday, the Capitals have the "Superstar" drawing power with Ovechkin/Semin/Green, looking at the Anaheim ratings in the US, easy to see that they are potentially the worst TV draw in the League (Game 3, Cup final 2007 vs. Ottawa was lowest rated program in NBC history)

All games should be in HD.

What I'd like to know, now that CBC has 3 HD trucks, what are they using the 3rd one for? I was expecting them to start doing the Habs and Sens games in HD. |

Don't forget the trucks are shared by the CBC and SRC, so maybe they are using it. They could also be renting it out as that may be more profitable than using it for a regional game.

That statement is based on the CBC IPG listings, my guide just said: Live, Washington @ Toronto.... whereas when it still said the other game, it said: HD, Live, Anaheim @ Montreal, the late game still had the HD tag on it, and where it has been reliable in the past, seemed right to assume from it.

So if SRC is using the third HD truck, CBC English can't share the picture? I realize that the CBC has a no share poliy wth other networks but to not share the HD picture when both networks are part of the same organization is stupid. If that is the reason CBC fans were denied seeing the Montreal/Anaheim game in HD then that is just sheer idiocy and so typical of the thinking at the bureaucratic minded CBC.
On a slightly different topic I got a little tired tonight with the commentators on the Toronto/Washington game. Their conversation for the whole evening revolved around Ovechkin this and Ovechkin that. Camera coverage during stoppages seemed slanted that way too. Were there any other players on the ice? Anyone else feel that way? |
