Default Dead 630?

My 630 is showing 8:00 and isn't responding to anything we do. Tried a physical reset, unplugging the device, checked all connections. The dashes start to show, then 8:00 appears on the front panel and it won't turn on. Tried pushing the button on the remote and on the receiver itself. Any idea what's going on?

It's supposed to record the two soccer games this afternoon for me so i'm pretty pissed that its happening now.

Unplugged everything again. Flipped coax cables. Plugged all back in (power last). It went to 8:00 again then finally started working. Missed the first half of the games but recording and watching now.

Default Shaw PVR 630 will not record.

Problems just started last week. I had programmed the PVR to record a show on a HD channel. Went I went to view, it had recorded the show, but stopped half way through. Frozen frame. Then went I exited and went back in again to resume playback, all I got was a black screen.
Last night I was recording a show on HD and it showed it all lined up and ready to record. The red light went on to show it was recording. When I hit the PVR to see if it was recording, the minutes showed it was not. I waited and went back in. Same thing. I rescheduled the recording for later on last night. Same thing happened. The red light went on but it was not recording. When I view the recording event in the PVR section, on the same line appears a symbol. It is a circle with a box inside with a + / + symbol.
I just checked on a movie that shows it was recorded last night. It shows the minutes for the movie, but when I hit play. Black screen. I have over 50% left in memory on my PVR. Any ideas? I try to phone Shaw today, a two hour wait time. Guess because it is a holiday. Thanks.

Try unplugging it for 2 minutes. Then check the signal level and Ebno in the options/setup/status screen.

I have noticed some pixelation when I am recording another show and momentary blackouts. The recording is fine. Just the show I am watching.

Angry recording problems

Kcowan, I noticed the same problem yesterday when I was watching the Blue Jay on 312 and recording a movie on AMC. I stoped the recording and the problem went away. Does Shaw support have any idea why this is happening and do they have any fix in the works? It sure is annoying!

Default New Firmware Version??

Just checked the system settings and see that the version on my 630 is 7.33. Is this new? A week or so ago, it did not record a scheduled event and everything froze up. I did a hard reboot and it has been working fine ever since. If 7.33 is new...what does it do?

Recently changed from Bell to Shaw south of the border. My 630 came is installed and more or less working (seems to require a lot of reboots is this normal?).

Mine did not come with any instruction book other than the very slim how to hook up all the cables bit. I am wondering if there is a way to force the reciever to put the HD output of the standard NTSC output to anamorphic for recording to a DVD so it can be played back with minimum loss of resilution?

Default Bad unit?

Was wondering if I have beensent a bad unit as I have been having nothing but problems with it as far as I can tell it shoudl work a bit better. Seems to lat a couple hours at best before requiring a reboot.

1) Most recently it just shut itself off when I tried to record something on a timer. Would not turn back on and currently have it unplugged waiting a few minutes to set it right.

2) It has often frozen up on a menu of some sort on screen and no buttons will get rid of the the menu itme and the channel will not change although it is playing fine. A soft reset from the on off switch on the unit restores it.

3) During playback of something I recorded last night it stopped playing the picture frooze up no remote buttons worked and the soft reset did nothing. Unplugged unit but when I got it back on it would not allow anything that had been recorded to be played back. They are on the menu of items but all have a circle with glasses and a line through it.

4) On a couple of occasions it has just stopped and will let you watch whatever the last channel is but not change it or even turn the unit off from the remote.

This is a lto worse performance than a Coolsat FTA box I had and got rid of since the firmware was buggy.

Mine did download new formware last night.

Any ideas or should this one get sent back for an exchange?

Reboot it now that it is updated. If problems persist insist on a replacement.

I did a soft reset when the unit finally locked up. It seems to be working better now but it has only been one day.
