A big turn of events for the XBox...this coupled with news that Nintendo actually LOST money in the quarter spells double trouble for Wii. Is it possible that Nintendo's casual demographic just doesn't play video games in the summer?

The new 360 was the reason for MS winning for the month.

One month blip or a pattern is still unknown.

Summer sales aren't that great regardless and the industry seems to be finally hit by the recession.

Is it the recession or is the current generation finally hitting its saturation point?

Only time will tell.

Cheers

On the worldwide scale, both the ps3 and 360 surpassed the wii in sales. http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php. Never thought I would see both do it at the same time without a major software release. Here comes wii 2.

And the ds juggernaut keeps rolling along.

Side note: Dementium 2 is really amazing on the ds.

They outsold WII because WII has finally sold everyone on the planet, their system. I betch there are more WII consoles than XBOX 360 out there.

No doubt about that, but I can't remember a time when both competitors outsold the wii in the same week.
