Thanks for the info foxfan, do you know the exact location of the CBC building in Montreal??? I would like to see using google map if it's because of the mountain or because of a low signal. It will help me decide whether I should pursue trying to install a better antenna on the roof. If it's blocked because of the mountain, i'll never get it, if it's low power, I could probably try to get it..

No Wonder,

I live right next to Centre Laval...
That is very encouraging that you can catch CBC!!! I think I will have to play around with my positioning... My window faces west so I will try to put my silver sensor outside and point south and see if anything comes up...

I'll let you know tonight!

I'm completely on the western edge of the island of Laval, so CBC is out of the question for me, only manages 20% sginal. But I do get PBS clear and blue.

Now I'm just waiting for the US Networks to start broadcasting digital OTA this summer/fall

What kind of antennas are you using to get CBS?

Well I don't exactly kwow the name of it and it's pretty old (ten years) but here's a picture. It's so small i have a hard time understanding how i can get such a good reception with it.

Size doesn't matter with UHF.

I plugged in my OTA antenna last night to test out my reception. I was able to pull in CBS HD WCAX at 76% with the antenna simply laying on my patio table. I assume when I actually mount it and point it that should be better.

Also i noticed a tad nicer colors on the WCAX broadcast of CSI last night compared to my CTV simsub over the Boston CBS on ExpressVu.

BTW the Superbowl in on CBS this year, so now atleast the SuperBowl sans SimSub is a guarantee!

I am just south of you in Pointe-Claire.
well I placed(south-east) it so i don't have to stand-up all the time and move the rotor cause I use my antenna for analog and digital. If i let it like that i get fox at 50%(5 bars) but if i move my antenna(south) I can raise it to 70% so i imagine that when they will have the other antenna(more powerfull) i will get 100% like all my channels.

Default St-Sauveur OTA HD Availibility?

I live in the Village of St-Sauveur (40 miles north west of Montreal), in what could be best described as a small valley with ski mountains half a mile to the south.

No OTA HD for me right ?

I am looking for a pre-amp as well. I get CBS(WCAX) at 70% with my active color antenna/amplifier. I was thinking maybe a good quality pre-amp with my antenna might give me better results. Why do you recommend 12-18dB range? And can I assume that the higher the dB the more powerfull the pre-amp?
