out of curiosity. Other than for multi-zone BD playback. Is there any point in buying this BD player anymore considering a far more reliable low-end Sony BD can be purchased at for only $20 more?

Then check if the player is getting an IP: General Settings -> Network. If not, you'll have to assign one manually. > I have a wireless bridge. By this, I assume you mean you have a wireless router, running in bridge mode, that is connected to the Seiki via ethernet cable. > Other than for multi-zone BD playback. Is there any point in buying this BD player anymore considering a far more reliable low-end Sony BD can be purchased at for only $20 more? Hardware-wise, it has yet to be seen if the Seiki is less reliable than a namebrand player. One thing for sure, though, don't plan on getting any firmware updates for the Seiki. The Seiki can handle a lot of different formats, as well as read NTFS. I'm not sure how flexible Sonys are. Knowing their consumer unfriendly attitude, probably not flexible at all. But for flexibility, LG seems to offer a lot of features, although they have a reputation for poor firmware support once the machine gets a bit older. At $80, it's debatable whether a Seiki is worth buying, but if it were on sale for $60, I would recommend it. |

My thought is in firmware support. With BD it seems you need constant FW upgrade. But I agree that if the hardware can last for at least one year than $60 is not bad.

Yes. I have a wireless Bridge and I am connecting it the the ethernet port on the player. But, it won't assign a Ip to it. How do I manually do that. Thank you.

Thanks to a tip from an RFDer:
http://www.seikidigital.com/index.php/support/ There's basically just a download link for the firmware, without any real info given (eg. what changes have been made), so you may as well just click below to download it (~30MB) http://199.124.60.22/~seikidig/Downl...V5.0F6_upg.zip i assume it's for both hardware revisions, since it only says 'Blu-Ray 660'. |

I have my Seiki set up as HDMI=Auto directly connected to my Samsung HDTV. Last night, I was watching 'Biutiful' (standard DVD, not Bluray) and noticed that the movie display began normally for a DVD, with two horizontal black bars (HBB) for about 5 minutes and then the movie became full screen and remained so for most of the movie returning to the two black bar format about 5 minutes before the end. Is this normal?

It's normal. Third question on the page:
http://www.theasc.com/ac_magazine/Ja...iful/page1.php Other movies, albeit for different reasons, have also used aspect ratio changes, such as Batman: The Dark Knight. The scenes filmed in IMAX are 1.85:1, whereas the other parts are 2.35:1. |

Thanks Rabbit; that link is very informative. Just for the record, the version I watched was Bluray (my mistake above).

I still can't get my wireless bridge to work with the player. Guess it's time to upgrade it.

Did anyone manage to get the BD660 (or any other LAN connected BD player for that matter) to work with a wireless bridge?

While watching the Army of Darkness BD on my Seiki BD660, I noticed the presence of a Bonus View icon in the top right corner of the screen. Anyone knows how to get rid of this?
