Depending on your remote you can use the vcr fast forward button to advance 6 hrs at a time. This will launch you into the future with a few button presses.

Press the fast forward button to move ahead 6 hours and the skip ahead button to move 1 day ahead. Use the rewind and the skip back buttons to move back 6 hours or 1 day.
