Default Incompetent People at Telus

I recently switch from shaw to telus because of the attractive offer they had and a larger bandwidth cap. I went with the optik tv and optik internet package, which came with a free xbox 360. After I signed up I called telus to set up an appointment for the install. The representative asked me how many boxes i was installing and i told him 2 boxes. And he put me on hold for 10 minutes to set up the appointment and such, and when he came back on the line i asked him if that includes the xbox 360 that i want installed as an hd receiver, and he goes 'uhhh, you should of told me earlier, cause it's a whole different order'. So i asked him to change it so that it shows that i want 2 hd boxes and an xbox installed as an hd receiver. He replies 'meh, it's okay, the tech guys always carry an extra one when the do the install.' So he was implying that he rather not change my order and that it was no big deal. When the tech guys came the following week i asked them if they brought the xbox to be installed as an hd receiver and they said they didn't get that order so they can't install it. I asked them if they can call telus and rectify this error so it can be installed at the same time as my other receiver. but the tech guys were unhelpful and decided i should call telus and ask, so i did and the rep from telus ask me to put the tech guy on so i did and they talked for 5 mins and he hung up. I asked the tech guy what he said and he replied that he needs to finish this job first so he can clear it, whatever that means. So i let him finish installing my 2 receivers first and after he was done he was about to go. I reminded him i still need an xbox and it needs to be installed. He brushed it off and said, "I'll call them tonight and see if i can do it". Then he left. I called telus and asked them why the messed up my order and they said they can't do anything other than sending it in the mail and having me wait 4-6 weeks for it to arrive and install it myself, which is not only dumb, cause when they mail me the xbox it won't come with the remote, the installation cd or the cables. So that means I'll have to schedule another appointment for them to come again and install the xbox which would take another week or so. So as you can see this is utterly retarded telus customer service is. They don't talk communicate to eachother and in the end it's the customer that takes the blunt of their stupidity. I plan on calling again tommorow and demanding that they send someone with an xbox out here and install it or i'll just cancel the whole service altogether.

Unfortunately the ordering system isn't good for modifying orders (it only breaks things more to try) so the order needs to be done correctly in the first place. And you can't put in another order until the first one is signed off and completes (this doesn't happen instantly).

If you told me you wanted two boxes then I would assume the same thing the sales rep did.

Was anyone watching the Oilers/Stars game on SNW HD?

What your picture HORRIBLE?

On top of that, the help phone system appears to be messed up tonight. I kept getting funneled to a message that no one was available and to call back later.

Yeah the video feed from Rexall was terrible for the first and second period. But if you noticed the picture quality for the commercials and the between period Sportsnet reports were excellent. At the beginning of the third period Kevin Quinn said that the technical difficulties were corrected. The picture quality was fine for the third period. So the problem was not with Telus.

Thanks Beekas... I'm glad it was Rexall and not Telus.

Default Remote Recording Listings for Edmonton / Red Deer are wrong

..... and it seems to be a low priority for TELUS.

Here's the deal. I went into the 'client zone' on the Optik TV site to show a friend how it works. When I went to the Edmonton listings I noticed that a lot of the channels are listed in the wrong position i.e. Global is marked as channel 7 & CITY TV is channel 8,CTV Edmonton[channel 2 ] is not even on the listings. I phoned tech support and spoke to 2 different reps who both said that they would pass my info on to the web people. It is now 3 days later and still nothing has been corrected. I would think that this would be top priority as it is a relatively new feature that they are promoting. Obviously not. Kinda bush-league.

Unhappy UGH! Optik TV/INTERNET is killing my online gaming fun!

My parents switched to Optik TV/Internet. At first I thought it was pretty cool with the PVR anywhere feature and initial download testing was around 14.7 MBS. However at night when both HD telvisions are on and my sister watching TV in her bedroom my speed drops to around 2.8mbs (280kps) and I lag when online gaming (BattelfieldBC2 and Team Fortress 2).

We have 6 family members and the TVS are always on at night so I guess Im stuck with this crap. MY dad rang telus today and they told him the low speeds are exected with all the TVS on as we live in a 15MB area and not 25. When he asked when we would be getting 25 she said that they didnt issue their staff with crystall balls so they dont know.

So if you like online gaming and live in a 15mb area with other family members likely to be watching TV or recording a lot stay away from this.

icmanxxx:
Take a few minutes and program your family's favorite shows to be automatically recorded on the PVR, preferably on the earlier eastern broadcasts or even over night if possible. Then they can watch them via the PVR rather than live and they won't be using any of the DSL bandwidth when you want to do your gaming AND they will be happy because they can blow through the 4 minute commercial breaks in 5 seconds.

A good work around but sad that one is needed. Reminds me of not being using the internet after work in 96 because didn't want phone tied up/ringing busy because of dial-up internet in case someone wanted to call.

Given the relative competitiveness in the industry I am shocked a work around like this would be necessary.

More of a complaint than a rant... the more I watch Optik, the less and less I think of the PQ.

Perhaps I was spoiled by Shaw Direct, but I'm finding colors do not blend well and the picture can be "blotchy" for lack of a better word from time to time (almost like the "clayface" problem on 2006 model Samsung plasmas)

I've also found that the border is pixelated around an NHL score bug when I get right up close... not a deal breaker, but still annoying.

I plan to stick it out for a while as I do like the other feature I didn't have with SD, but if the PQ doesn't improve in 6 months to a year, I may have to look elsewhere for my TV provider.

Telus does compress the hell out of their feeds, I've also noticed that my Shaw HD quality was better than Telus, especially when there is lots of fast motion on the screen.

Horrible picture on 665 (SNWHD) for the Oilers/Preds game. The picture was so jittery, yet the sound was fine.

Rebooted the 330 twice before it fixed itself.
