I'm shocked that they still show videos 50% of the time. It seems like there's never anything on those channels besides reality shows.

mtv's license does not allow for videos,
Well MM and MMM gets away with not sticking to their mandate I think MTV Canada should do the same and start airing music videos once and awhile. That would be the same as what the other MM stations are doing just in reverse.

In case you missed the CRTC decision for MuchMusic on November 25, the Commission denies the following:
  • inclusion of lifestyle programming in MuchMusic’s nature of service and a proposed target audience for such programming
  • amount of music video clips that are to be broadcast on the service each broadcast week
  • amount and nature of programming broadcast on the service that may be drawn from program categories 7(a) Ongoing dramatic series and 7(e) Animated television programs and films
  • minimum level of Canadian programming that must be broadcast on the service
  • exhibition (removal) of French-language music videos on the service
  • amount of the service’s contribution to the MuchFACT fund

But the CRTC approves the following:
  • a condition of license for the service whereby no more than 10% of the programming drawn from program category 7(d) Theatrical feature films aired on TV and broadcast during the broadcast month may be devoted to music-related programming from that program category
  • addition of program categories to the list of categories from which the service may draw programming
  • adoption of an “18-hour broadcast day” (instead of 24 hours) for the service

Read the CTRC decision here to know why the Commission denies most of MuchMusic's proposal but approves some.

much has really gone down hill, i remember watching videos on there almost 24/7 when i was a young person. now i don't even go to the station anymore. I wish there license would be pulled. The fact that shaw will probably never carry the real video stations, does not help.
