Default Google goes "Pacman" with animated, interactive logo and sound!

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-20005528-52.html

Google has introduced a Pacman-styled animated logo today in celebration of the 30th birthday of Pacman!

It includes sound! And you can play Pacman!!

Also, an "Insert Coin" button has replaced the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button

For any who may have missed it here's a screenshot:

Insert Coin twice and you get Pac-man & Ms. Pac-man on the same board.

Sure brings back the memories. But even after all this time, its still a great game. High score so far, 19820.

Default Firefox pacman sound

Not so cool on some firefox installs. I and many others are having the pacman siren play no matter what page they are on. Apparently one of my firefox plugins has some sort of hook into google which means that when I open firefox even on a blank page I get the sound.

Which begs the question is this plugin reporting back to google more than I want. You just have to search (I was going to say google) firefox pacman sound to see that it is fairly common. Doesn't really give me warm fuzzies that firefox or one of its extensions is in constant contact with google. Seems to me to a bit a potential privacy issue here. Makes me wonder about both firefox and google.

UPDATE:

Now that Google has restored their original logo, the Pacman game logo is archived (seemingly permanently) here:

Default Google Pac-Man Game Gobbles Up 4.8M Hours, $120 Million

Quote:
Users spent more than 4.8 million hours of time playing Google's free Pac-Man game May 21, a time suck that could have cost companies nearly $120.5 million, according to time management tool RescueTime. The time management provider said Pac-Man ate up 4,819,352 hours of time beyond the 33.6 million daily manhours of attention that Google Search gets in a given day. The numbers should give some employers pause to wonder what their worker bees are doing in the hive

And we wonder why companies block everything
