Sirius XM Radio to air all 64 FIFA World Cup matches

Sirius XM has announced that it will broadcast all 64 matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup live from South Africa from June 11 through July 11.

For matches, listeners will hear ESPN broadcasters JP Dellacamera and Tommy Smyth. Dellacamera has called the last six FIFA World Cups for a variety of television networks as well as the past two Summer Olympic Games. Smyth has called more than 2,500 international matches from leagues all over the world and has worked three FIFA World Cups.

In addition to live play-by-play of every match, Sirius XM will also offer game analysis throughout the tournament by Giorgio Chinaglia (former New York Cosmos and Italian national team striker) and Charlie Stillitano (past general manager of the New York/New Jersey MetroStars), on special World Cup editions of their SIRIUS XM program, The Football Show.

Sirius XM said match times and channel details would be announced in coming days.

In Canada, will both Sirius and XM have the games or just Sirius?

I thought I heard an ad on a sirius station that the wc games are availiable on the best of xm package, which would really suck for me. Can any one confirm this? (I have a 6 month free trial of sirius, without best of xm)

out of curiosity, do you have sirius canada or usa? if usa, easy enough to get best of xm for a month or so.

Folks - Contacting both Sirius and XM Canada about Canadian coverage of the World Cup has been an exercise in frustration.

Neither one of them could tell me whether they were carrying games or not. I guess the good news is that neither of them gave me a definite NO.

Seems to me that when XM carried the last Euro Cup there was not much fanfare either.

CBC said they would not be broadcasting any radio games via Sirius although there seemed to be some hope that the semi and final may be on CBC radio.

The Football Show on Sirius 125 mentioned last nite that games would be covered on channel 125. If so, we currently get 125 so we might be in luck. The Sirius USA web site indicates that games will be on some 200 channel which is only available on best of XM which we can't get in Canada.

Can anybody out there shed any further light on this. Will Satellite Radio in Canada be carrying any of the soccer games??

My radio only goes up to channel 194, do I need a newer model to get 213 & 214?

I called Sirius Canada today and they have NO CLUE what is going on. Poor customer service. He re-hit my receiver to see if it would pick up the new channels.

Yet their website clearly states their will be temporary channels available on 213-214 playing the games.

On Sirius USA, Channels 213 & 214 are part of the Best Of XM package, which isn't available here.

I called Sirius a few days about this too and they had no idea, they said they'd let me know when The Best Of XM is available in Canada.

Since the Best of XM package is not available in Canada, Sirius Canada has decided to give all of its subscribes the required XM channels that will be carrying the FIFA World Cup games for free. In other words, you don't have to pay extra for anything. They are giving it to us for free!

When I turned my radio on this morning, it updated the channels and now I get channels 213 and 214. I'm sure when this event ends on July 11th, the channels will disappear, but I'm quite happy to get them and at no cost to boot!

Leave your radio on for a few minutes, you'll get a subscription update message and then the channels open up. Uruguay and France on 214 right now.

I wonder if its only newer radios that update. My SVC01 radio did not update. I will check again tomorrow.
